So instead of educating users about a feature that already existed, Twitter has decided to punish us all by shoving those conversations in our faces. Now, whenever someone adds to the conversation, you'll see the first and most recent tweet, and a blue or grey line that is either dotted or full.

The New Utility: A Story about Brand in the Social Age

The New Utility: A Story about Brand in the Social Age | The Future of Social Media: Trends, Signals, Analysis, News | Scoop.it

In the Social Age, the value of a brand is co-created with the community and, largely, the value is held by the community. It’s no longer broadcast and owned by the organisation. It’s no longer about pushing brand onto people, but instead it’s about adding value to people in meaningful ways.

You Don’t Need A Digital Strategy, You Need A Digitally Transformed Company

You Don’t Need A Digital Strategy, You Need A Digitally Transformed Company | The Future of Social Media: Trends, Signals, Analysis, News | Scoop.it

In 2015 it seems foolish to have a digitalor mobile strategy, you just need a business strategy for the modern world. Whether it’s Uber reinventing the transportation business, Instagram changing the nature of photography or Netflix disrupting video content, what binds these companies is they brought digital thinking to the very heart of their companies, not just bolted it onto the side.

Käyttökokemus ratkaisee verkossa | The Future of Social Media: Trends, Signals, Analysis, News | Scoop.it

Mistä on hyvät käyttökokemukset tehty?

Laser Chip Could Turn Smartphones Into Handheld 3D Scanners | The Future of Social Media: Trends, Signals, Analysis, News | Scoop.it

Taking 2D photos with your phone is rather popular these days, but thanks to Caltech scientists, soon you may be able to wave your phone at an object and capture a 3D scan of it. You could scan a particularly nice coffee cup, and then instantly send the 3D scan to a 3D printer and produce an exact copy.

The world of 360 is not limited to video and photography  but of  course photogrammetry and  lidar as well. We know of many  photogrammetric applications  using tablet and phones  but  this is the first of the promises of  hybrid lidar in your phone!

Should shake up  a lot of interest as we see  point clouds becoming more popular in all the industries of the world.  This  example does not show articuarly  high res  but of course it is still early days.  if we look at what lidar has done in the last 20 years and the  scale of technology acceleration, i think one could say that within 3-5 years   there will be a dynamic  advance in the use of 3d scan data in everyday lives.

How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco’s Life - NYTimes.com | The Future of Social Media: Trends, Signals, Analysis, News | Scoop.it

So for the past two years, I’ve been interviewing individuals like Justine Sacco: everyday people pilloried brutally, most often for posting some poorly considered joke on social media. Whenever possible, I have met them in person, to truly grasp the emotional toll at the other end of our screens. The people I met were mostly unemployed, fired for their transgressions, and they seemed broken somehow — deeply confused and traumatized.

This week Google’s Eric Schmidt was on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he suggested that the future Internet will be, in one sense, invisible — because it will be embedded into everything we interact with.

“The Internet will disappear,” he predicted (via The Hollywood Reporter). “There will be so many IP addresses…so many devices, sensors, things that you are wearing, things that you are interacting with that you won’t even sense it. It will be part of your presence all the time.
