The new path to organisational change (LBS)

The new path to organisational change (LBS) | The Future of HR | Scoop.it
Has business entered a new era, one that means that the old paradigms governing change are no longer the road to success? Dan Cable shares his thinking.
Tom Haak's insight:

"Today, the basis of change is small changes in human behaviour, rather than grand organisational changes. It is a matter of hundreds (or even thousands) of individuals acting in new ways; and, by this, people inside a firm bring about organisational change that customers can see and respond to"

Can HR Managers think like Economists?

Can HR Managers think like Economists? | The Future of HR | Scoop.it
Deloitte just released its Human Capital Trends 2013, a year-long research effort which looks at talent and leadership trends around the world.
Tony Brugman (Bright & Company)'s curator insight, April 9, 4:54 AM

Great post by Josh Bersin at Forbes, referring to the latest Deloitte Human Capital Trends 2013 report. The report states that HR should think more like economists.

If the main challenge is to fill the talent and skills gap in the workforce, Bersin argues that "this is a 'supply and demand' problem." HR can learn a lot from economists to gain new perspectives on its talent "markets" and organizational "economies".

The Next Phase of Social Business is the Collaborative Economy

The Next Phase of Social Business is the Collaborative Economy | The Future of HR | Scoop.it

Valuable insight, trends, impact on business in the future. What’s the next phase of Social Business? That’s the question I’m frequently asked. Without a doubt, the next phase is the Collaborative Economy. What’s that? That’s where brands will rent, lend, provide subscriptions to products and services to customers, or even further, allow customers to lend, trade, or gift branded products or services to each other. This unstoppable trend is fueled by the social web, the specific features include relationships, online profiles, reputations, expressed needs and offerings and ecommerce. Customers are already starting to conduct these behaviors among themselves using TaskRabbit, AirBnb, Lyft, and many others tools –some of these are disruptions and opportunities to brands. The next phase of Social Business is the Collaborative Economy; Brands will enable customers to share, trade, lend, gift products and goods using social technologies....

Why Upgrade Your HR Systems?

Why Upgrade Your HR Systems? | The Future of HR | Scoop.it
CFOs may not be experts in either HR or technology, but they should know enough to sign off confidently on a buying decision.

This is the first in a series of 5 excellent articles looking at the buying of HR Technology from a CFO's point of view.  And, lets face it you need to get this big decision past the CFO in most organisation.

Via Andrew Spence
Andrew Spence's curator insight, May 17, 3:41 PM

Why indeed ?

With a powerful HR Tech industry in full sales mode - a seasoned review of the business case from the CFO is more than welcome.

As Naomi Bloom says, "When you hear, ‘We’re running version 7 of this system, and our maintenance contract expired, and we can’t do anything with mobile devices, and so we have got to buy this new system,’ you have to respond with your broad, strategic plan.”

This is spot on - and any decision also needs to include how this technology will delivery the overall HR/People Strategy.

The Emergence of Chief Digital Officers

The Emergence of Chief Digital Officers | The Future of HR | Scoop.it

A new force is stepping into the C-suite — an upstart whose arrival signals how a company will manage social media and other digital technologies: the chief digital officer, or CDO. Appearing in many industries, CDOs share a similar mandate: provide oversight and strategy, and create a big-picture view of how social and digital technologies can make a difference to the entire organization.

One industry where CDOs are making headway is in higher education. The increased interest and activity in delivery of online classes and the rise of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are spurring administrators to take a deeper look at the role of social and other digital technologies in delivering educational content.

Companies are appointing Chief Digital Officers to focus their use of social and digital strategies.

Mr Branson's curator insight, May 8, 4:34 AM

When it comes to a 'Chief Digital Officer' one needs to first understand Google, the Internet and be able to multi-task or organize it's entire team or wrokforce across all online platforms plus write or create great content. This is no easy task. He or she needs fundamental SEO credentials with proof they can rank themeselves above that of any other experience. In short, he or she who lives & breathes it with results is who wins or rules online. http://www.infogurushop.com also now with VIDEO online taking center stage this now changes the online landscape for SEO, PPC, Digital, Content and Social Media expertise of most jobs and opportunities. The new media battle must be fought on all multimedia platforms or your business, brand, service or product will die of a quick death. Knowledge, wisdom, understanding, like's and creativity even for Facebook is paramount the Internet in the last week has significantly changed.

MTD's curator insight, May 8, 11:53 AM

The membership of the Board is changing all the time. What's most interesting about the emergence of the CDO is how critical it is to sectors such as education, where digital tools are implicitly vital to growth and new learning models.

If You Use the Web, You Are a 'Curator'

If You Use the Web, You Are a 'Curator' | The Future of HR | Scoop.it
A curator ingests, analyzes and contextualizes web content. Whether you like it or not, you've curated and will continue to do so as long as you're online.

Via Ana Cristina Pratas, Aki Puustinen
Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, May 11, 4:23 AM

A curator ingests, analyzes and contextualizes web content and information of a particular nature onto a platform or into a format we can understand. In other words, a curator is like that person at the beach with the metal detector, surfacing items and relics of perceived value. Only, a web curator shares those gems of content with their online audiences.

And since people create 571 new websites every minute, tweet 175 million times per day and upload 48 hours of new video each minute, a curator's work is never done.

To the Brainy, the Spoils

To the Brainy, the Spoils | The Future of HR | Scoop.it

ELITE management consultancies shun the spotlight. They hardly advertise: everyone who might hire them already knows their names. The Manhattan office that houses McKinsey & Company does not trumpet the fact in its lobby. At Bain & Company’s recent partner meeting at a Maryland hotel, signs and name-tags carried a discreet logo, but no mention of Bain. The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which announced growing revenues in a quiet press release in April, counts as the braggart of the bunch.
