Another produce abandons screwcap

Another produce abandons screwcap | The Authentic Food & Wine Experience | Scoop.it
A leading Australian winery has returned to cork after five years of "persistent quality control issues" using screwcaps.

Rusden Wines is abandoning screwcap for cork citing bottle variation, 'sweaty' characteristics and reductive notes. In plain terms they just think that screwcaps are bad for their unfilitered craft wines.

They follow a short, but notable, list of wineries returning to cork. Maybe the tree farmers of Portugal will enjoy a new revival?

Touching on the science of smell and taste | The Authentic Food & Wine Experience | Scoop.it

Why is it that people who can identify flavours and aromas in wine are frequently labelled as snobs, when in other fields they're considered experts?

Gobi desert wines in China | The Authentic Food & Wine Experience | Scoop.it

Watch the BBC's short video on how Chinese growers are making wine in the Gobi Desert.

Despite the hot summers and freezing winters, Chinese vintners are striving to produce wine in the desert. It's all to feed their ever growing domestic market.
