Decanter reports that Penfolds have commissioneda dozen hand crafted "ampoules" for the release their 2004 Kalimna Block 42 Cabernet Sauvignon.
OK, the packaging may be super-fancy, but is this really worth A$168,000 (US$ 172,000 or £109,000)? At the end of the day isn't it just bottle of wine??

Why is it that people who can identify flavours and aromas in wine are frequently labelled as snobs, when in other fields they're considered experts?
This little article asks the question of why people get labelled as wine ponces.
It's worth a read, but I tend to think that people get derogatory labels such as "snob" and "bore" more for their demeanour than their olfactory ability. Via David Swaddle Delete the scoop?
