[This 2010 New York Times story by a reporting duo that included an investigative reporter and the paper's Florida reporter offers an informative, in-depth look at the excessive cost of the U.S. Sugar deal cut by former Gov. Charlie Crist. Sadly, no Florida newspaper to date has bothered to dig as deeply into the matter. There is balance in the reporting. Few would argue the good intention behind helping the Everglades. But the structure of the deal was and remains highly questionable in the favoritism shown US Sugar.]
