The Risk of Doing Nothing

The Risk of Doing Nothing | The Enterprise Architecture Daily | Scoop.it

From an EA perspective, the break down started a long time ago when executives chose a wait-and-see approach to problem solving that consisted of applying system patch – after system patch versus wholesale upgrades or rebuilds. Looking back makes it clear that the sector can no longer be idle.

Providing architecture and process models

Reusing existing architecture and process models helps you to kick start your process analyses. This is particularly important in the Measure andAnalyze steps of the DMAIC cycle, where you create artifacts such as process and value stream maps to find bottlenecks, waiting times, complex judgements, rework, hidden factories and other issues in the processes.

As an short introduction, I’d like to state that A priori enterprise architecture is not done in a vacuum, but rather it starts with an existing landscape of enterprise capabilities and assets.

In this project, as in typical projects, we will be drawing from building blocks that were created in previous EA efforts. These are assets which make up the companies business, data, application, and technical architectures respectively. So our next steps will be to flesh out additional EA elements for the projects problem domain as we work through the ADM process, as well ultimately deliver various EA artifacts that will be utilized in architecture governance, and solution.

The key to achieving integration, mobility and high performance: Understanding your user requirements and building a flexible, scalable architecture to meet them, says Adam Bari, managing director of IPM, an IT consulting firm. “If you don’t provide that architecture in your enterprise, users will take out their credit cards and buy it from someone else, regardless of security mandates,” he warns.

7 Simple Steps To Reduce Complexity

7 Simple Steps To Reduce Complexity | The Enterprise Architecture Daily | Scoop.it

Over the past several years we have heard hundreds of managers talk about the negative impact of complexity on both productivity and workplace morale.

Agreeing on complexity as a problem is one thing, but doing something about it is quite another — particularly for managers who are already over-worked, stressed, and can barely keep up with their current workload.
