Orenstein, Peggy. "What's Wrong With Cinderella?" The New York Times. 24 Dec. 2006. Web. 6 Nov. 2014.

This article is written from a mother who has had experience with her child fantasizing over Disney Princesses. The author, Peggy Orenstein believes girls are encouraged by other people who also grew up watching Disney. Many people have encouraged her daughter to be a princess, but many of us cannot be a princess forever, we have to grow up and be lawyers or nurses at some point. Our society has put so much pressure on girls, giving them the goal to be "perfect". Orenstein also believes the marketing of Disney has made it easy for girls to be a Disney Princess. She shares how she was in a grocery store and every product she passed, band-aids, cups, and notebooks, had some form of Disney Princess displayed on it. Not only are young girls easy to manipulate, but Disney has known how to advertise their princesses for many years.

The "Princess Syndrome" is at it again. Princesses have jumped from the cartoons we cherish to a realistic form.  These movies have given girls and young women a "princess attitude". Through repetition throughout movies, young women have seen the desire to have a prince. This still exists today, but the conflict lies between waiting for a man to sweep them off of their feet and contemporary female aspirations.

Like any other blog, the writer is very opinionated, but she states interesting characteristics of different princesses. Sleeping Beauty does not have to do anything in order to be princess. Snow White becomes a house wife to seven other men. Ariel was rebellious, even though she had a family that loved her and anything she could have ever wanted. However, the blogger feels that Ariel is a great role model for young women.

This image is a good representation of how you need to be attractive and good looking in order to receive greater things in life. Young women feel that being seductive is the only way to get a man, this is a misconception. This picture also shows how the princesses from 1937-1992 have not changed, they have continued to use their beauty to get what they want, whether it is a place to live with random strangers or to be saved by a prince. However,  the men only need to be rich and charming.
