The Done Manifesto | edte.ch

The Done Manifesto | edte.ch | The e-learning Professional | Scoop.it
This type of outlook on the creative process is pretty commonplace for start-ups and other such industries, but failure is rarely fully embraced in a school or education environment. In my opinion if we were to consider the curriculum design as a start-up industry – not the whole school – just the creative process of designing engaging, enriching, meaningful experiences for children – then it has to rank as one of the most creative industries of them all.

20 Awesome Android Apps for Students | Android.AppStorm | The e-learning Professional | Scoop.it

Being a student can be a tough at times. Not because of what it entails as a whole; by most accounts including my own it pretty much rocks. But at times studying, assignments, exams, part-time jobs and a hectic social life can really pile on the stress.

Flicking through the apps I have on my phone the other day I couldn’t help but realise that my college life is helped by so many of them. I wouldn’t know where I’d be without them. So I’ve picked out the top 20 apps that I think would be of use to college students all over the world, no matter where they live or what course they’re doing!

Clive on Learning Beware who's selling informal learning

There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that historically we have underplayed the importance of informal learning, whether that's experiential, on-demand or social. I'm equally convinced that, with the proliferation of great social networking tools and the ever-increasing confidence that learners are displaying when it comes to managing their own learning, informal learning should rightfully play a central role in our future learning architectures.

But I'm also as sure as I can be that we will still have plenty of need for formal learning in the workplaces and colleges of the future...

7 Things You Should Know About Gamification | EDUCAUSE

7 Things You Should Know About Gamification | EDUCAUSE | The e-learning Professional | Scoop.it

Gamification is the application of game elements in non-gaming situations, often to motivate or influence behavior. The rewards or the spirit of competition can spur students’ concentration and interest and lead to more effective learning. The use of gamification is wide-ranging in higher education, from extra-credit awards and in-class team competitions to complex multi-level schemes that can pervade a course. Although gamification can be deceptively difficult to employ effectively, it has the potential to help build connections among members of the academic community, drawing in shy students, supporting collaboration, and engendering interest in course content that students might not have otherwise explored
