The view across Cockburn's great Quinta dos Canais in the Douro valley. In the remote Upper Douro Valley, the magnificent 261 hectare (642 acre) Quinta dos Canais vineyard produces some of the Douro’s finest wines and has formed the mainstay of Cockburn’s Vintage Ports for nearly a century.

“Canais” is the Portuguese word for water channels. The quinta’s name derives from the unique system of granite water channels that were built in the 19th century to bring the water from the ‘Sibio’ waterfall, that cascades down the steep hillside on the western part of the estate, to the vineyard’s houses and orchards.

Churchill's Dry White Port is an emblematic product for Churchill's and unique in its style. Its rich golden colour denotes its 10 years of age which is also evident in its smooth and complex taste. The alternative aperitif to be served cold at any time of year.

 

Sourcing
The grapes come from specially chosen old vineyards located at higher altitudes in the Douro, sub-region of Cima Corgo.
               
Grape Varieties
A field blend of many varieties including Malvasia Fina, Códega, Gouveio and Rabigato.
               

Tasting Notes

A vibrant golden colour with grated nutmeg and eucalyptus on the nose. On the palate it is fresh and complex with a long peppery finish. (June 2011) Cellaring Recommendation: This 10 years old Dry White Port is filtered and ready to drink now. Once opened it will keep well for up to one month. Recommended Serving Temperature: Serve chilled (8º-10º). Decanting: No need to decant. Serve straight from the bottle.
