On 6 June 2013 the number 1 artist's proof of The New Illustrated Map of the Douro was sold together with six prestige lots of classic Port wine. This included, Noval Nacional 1994, 2000, 2003, Noval Colheitas back to 1937, Graham's VP 70', Taylor's VP 94' and Fonseca VP 94'. This marks the only occasion to date that the Douro Valley has been given such prominence in the United Kingdom and internationally.
The cover of Christie's catalogue carried the Douro Map and the first two pages of the sale catalogue featured the map and all six lots of Port wine ahead of the greatest Bordeaux and Burgundy... including some lots of Romanée Conti carrying individual estimates of up to 100,000 euros... the sale total was in excess of 1.5million euros.
