Cool ideas! But for MY teachers I DO NOT Recommend downloading the Hard Drive version of Google Drive. For our GAfE it just doesn't work because of the potential for charging you $$$$ if you fill it up!

I'm a little scared right now, Justin. How did you tap into my Dropbox? Or are we on the same brainwave. Because, I'm working on the METC Technado preso (natch) and some (like a LOT) of these ideas are being mentioned. And honestly, you elucidate them WAY better!
I hope you don't mind if I give a shout out at METC! Can you finish the preso for me now? LOL

I would also add "No Common Education Fad Left Behind" Be daring, adapt, adopt, transform, but don't always transplant. It's easy to prune a tree - it's harder to re-grow a forest.

Via Felix Jacomino
GwynethJones's insight:

This is one of the BEST videos to explain Flipping the Classroom!

But I have a sort of controversial or CONTRARY view on it.

Create the video, assign the video to be watched out of class, but then show the video before the lesson. WHY, you may ask? Doesn't that negate the whole thing? No! The Digital Divide in my school is real.

Some of my kiddos don't have smart devices, reliable Internet access at home or a parent who is avail at night to drive them to the public library (some of my parents work evenings) If you ask them if they can watch the video they will fib to maintain their pride that they can, but some can not. It's not fair  for even ONE KID to be made to feel left out or marginalized - Also, some kids might just not watch the video before the lesson (I know, shocker!) SO play the gosh darn video before the lesson - add another day to the lesson if you have to!

I also have my PAC computers in the library that is avail for this when it comes up. What do you think?

The View From the Shelves...: Choosing to Use Technology

The View From the Shelves...: Choosing to Use Technology | Daring Ed Tech | Scoop.it
GwynethJones's insight:

The sentence "For many of our students, school is the only place where opportunities to work with technology occurs." is very significant.

It seems that in all the folderol with the flashy education trends and hot topics, flipping, making, genrefying, etc. (And don't get me wrong, I'm a fan!) When it boils down to it, the digital divide still exists in this country. It's not the tool, it's the skill. It's not the iPad or device, its the application - of thought, of ideas, of skills.

Thank you for reminding us all that our kiddos NEED us to give them these experiences, these skills, and exposure to new technologies.

And librarians are the BEST educators in the building be both a technology and learning leader.

Cheers!
