It's not the DEVICE it's the DECISION of the teen that makes a difference! I've been preaching internet safety (now awareness) since 97 and this is one of my most embarrassing early webpages created in 2000 first for Maryland Public Television & later updated for the Horizon Foundation.
There are a LOT of cringeworthy Don'ts there that I don't believe in anymore! I've come to realize that we have to sometimes let kids make the right (or wrong!) choice so that they can learn the right lesson and that the world is NOT filtered we've gotta teach ethics! IN ALL Things not just technology!
Or as I said in 2000: "The most effective, reliable, Internet Safety Filter is an Involved, Informed, and Aware Parent and an Educated and Ethical Kid."*
This is a story about Sister Libraries, Twitter, Google+ Hangout, and connecting kids! It all started with a Tweet by my dear friend & Tweep Tiffany Whitehead aka The Mighty Little Librarian and her awesome BFF EL teacher Alaina Laperouse both of Central Middle School in Baton Rouge Louisiana!
