LONDON, ENGLAND- Wouldn’t you like to dwell in chambers like the Queen’s? Our beloved Queen Elizabeth has requested the young, well-known interior designer, James Wimbledon, to give her private chambers a makeover. In this interview, Wimbledon will reveal what must-have aspects your chambers need to include to make you feel like royalty. He also revealed some tips on what the necessary elements of extravagant chambers are and his plans for Queen Elizabeth’s chambers. “Wealthy, extravagant homes' various odors must be masked by strewing herbs to the rushes on the floor. You should use rose petals, sage, lavender, daisies, etc. for this. If you do not have rushes, you should get them because they provide insulation and are renewable. Collect these rushes from wetlands, where they are bountiful. You must clean and turn your rushes once every few days. Rush mats or Turkey carpets are going to be placed about in the Queen’s chambers since they are far better than loose rushes. Turkey carpets have many purposes.” “Turkey carpets, as well as velvet cloths, can also be used to cover the table. It is important to have a table covering for every meal, and to make sure your table covering is clean and ready for each meal. Queen Elizabeth is to have new, hand-made Turkey carpets ready for use in a matter of a week. They are going to be used on the floor, tables, and everywhere else where it is necessary. They may even be used as decorations, along with fine velvet tapestries.” “Another piece of decor that is necessary in a fine home and is going to be made for the Queen are beautiful tapestries imported from Asia. Tapestries provide insulation as well as the ability to brighten up a room. Candles also have this ability.” “A source of light is very much needed when it comes to wealthy homes. Having this light is essential to living comfortably, especially in the gloomy, rainy town of London. Sources of light include oil lamps, beeswax candles, or rushlights. (Rushlights are rushes soaked in grease. Obtain this grease from animal fats left over from the maids’ cooking). Remember to trim the wick of the candle carefully every 30 minutes to keep them burning bright! The Queen’s candlesticks are to be made of the purest silver in England.” “The newest invention, Farthingale chairs, are going to be custom-designed for Queen Elizabeth’s beautiful skirts. They are bell-shaped, wooden structures. The Queen’s chairs are going to be cushioned and made of whalebone, of course. If you are a lady of many skirts, it is recommended that you purchase one of these chairs from your local carpenter.” “The royal carpenter is also carving a new bed frame for the Queen. It is to be made of English oak, as usual, and is going to take weeks to complete because of its immense size." “New coverlets and quilts for the royal bed are being stitched. The pieces that require the most attention, though, are the bed curtains. It is to be heavily embroidered and carefully designed by me. Bed curtains provide heat and privacy. They are to be the Queen’s prized possessions”
Wimbledon has given us extraordinary housemaking tips and shown us what the necessary elements of a wealthy home are. We are very excited for the Queen's chambers to be redecorated.
LONDON, ENGLAND-For the people of parliament, it is a great devastation to see one of the best excellent witch hunters,Mathew Hopkins, be burned alive today at the Chapel. “There is no other sin in this world matched for what Hopkins has become,” said King James. “But it is for the better of this nation, to protect my fellow and innocent citizens from this unearthly magic.” Hopkins had followed methods that portrayed a standard pattern. The idea was suspects who refused to confess were constantly stalked until captured with their thumbs and toes bounded together, and then thrown into the nearest pond. If the accused was hovering at the surface of the water, then he or she has been aided by the Devil. To everybody’s disappointment, John Gaule, challenged Hopkins to his very own criteria. Unfortunately, Mathew Hopkins, had curled up into a ball, staying at the surface of the water. “Every old woman,” proclaimed Gaule, “with a wrinkled face...a squint eye, a squeaking voice, or a scolding tongue, having...a spindle in her hand, and a dog or cat by her side, is not only suspected but pronounced for a witch.” “It didn’t take me that long to perceive, even for the fact that he is a man, that he too was being assisted by the Devil,” he claimed. As this ruinous day is continuing towards dawn, may people are bombarded with as whether to ever trust another witch hunter, when he himself is the one who should be scrutinized.
LONDON, ENGLAND- To start off, the fashion in the Elizabethan time period came from the fashion styles from the French Renaissance. Both men and women wear leather/canvas corsets that are formed with stripes or bones of wood or steel. The corsets are lined with thin silk, laced in the back, and worn over a chemise, which is a type of men’s shirt. They also wear brightly colored stockings that are made of silk or wood. Their shoes are made of cork for comfort and to help your feet. Both men and women wear jewelry. That is probably the most popular accessory worn in the Elizabethan time period. People wear highly priced, jeweled gloves to cover up their hands. To go along with the accessories, people wear hats and caps that are made of velvet, silk, or beaver. Under their hat, both men and woman frizz or curl their hair to give them more volume. Another separate article of clothing is the ruff. It’s a cambric collar pleated into deep ruffles. They are heavily jeweled, made of lace and have matching ruffs. The rule of the fashion was to flatter the queen. Women wear petticoats on top of the corsets. Underneath the corsets, they wear gowns that were in two pieces, the bodice and the skirt. The fashion is styled to cover every part of the woman’s body and is worn to give a very modest affair. The term ‘dress’ came from garments worn altogether. The men wear baggy breeches all the way down to the knees. They wear it to give a balloon effect. The men’s bodice is called a doublet which is a short skirt that tied to the breeches. The fashion/clothing from the Elizabethan time period seems very old fashioned and different from what we would war in the future.
LONDON, ENGLAND- We have all been hearing the name William Shakespeare being mentioned for several years. Ever since the death of the beloved Marlowe in 1593, the 35-year old has been the single dominating factor amongst today’s playwrights. He has now reached the top of the playwright pyramid when the Globe Theaters, the most famous of all theatres, opened to the public with his play Henry V.
Over the past few years, Shakespeare has raised the bar for all other playwrights. He went against the common rules of Greek drama by having an entire play in one place at one time. He also catered to the interests of all people by including action, romance, and drama while also writing for more than just the upper class. His writing captures your attention and sweeps you into the story. The outstanding fluency helps one follow the story easier and makes it more enjoyable. All in all, his plays surpass others because you can simply relax and enjoy the show.
After seeing plays with as great quality as Romeo and Juliet or Love’s Labour’s Lost, how can I ever go back to the plays written the old-fashioned way? The queen herself, who greatly appreciates drama, hopes to go see Shakespeare’s play in the Globe Theater after being so pleased by the performance of Love’s Labor’s Lost and several others. Congratulations to Shakespeare for his seven years so far of stand-out success, we all await what delight you have planned for us next.
