American politicians agree: Borrow more. Just don’t raise the borrowing limit | The Crowdfunding Atlas | Scoop.it
Why is the US economy so determined to ignore the fiscal cliff? Today's job's numbers, while filled with the subtle weaknesses that indicate an economy still on the road to recovery, outstripped expectations.

This would be why the people are busy making economic plans wihtout their policy makers. Bring that #crowdfunding.--ABS

I'm so glad that there is such a variety of crowdfunding platforms out there. This one, I do not love. I think it's premise, however, is fantastic. It trades a bit too much in vanity giving. But if you want to get the money out of a vain person's pocket and into the bank account of an awesome charity, here you go. -ABS

Well, this was almost useful. A little bit  ahistorical, a little bit misguided in focusing on "sectors," thoroughly incomplete accounting of existing platforms, and then there's that phrase, "the Kickstarter Ecosystem." Ugh. Mr. Kim will come to regret this article. -ABS

8 Kickstarter Alternatives You Should Know About

8 Kickstarter Alternatives You Should Know About | The Crowdfunding Atlas | Scoop.it
Some of Kickstarter's competitors are gaining traction in the crowdfunding market. These services could give Kickstarter a run for its money in the future.

A very interesting aspect of crowdfunding is that rather than a fractured market, it is a self-boutiqued market. Each crowd has its own issue, so to speak. The idea that these platforms could give Kickstarter a run for its money is somewhat off the mark. There are plenty of crowds not served by Kickstarter's focus, hence the success of some of these up and coming platforms. The true story is the beat down that IndieGoGo took from Kickstarter. Check your timelines, folks. --ABS

Why Successful Crowdfunding Requires a Social-Media Mind-Set

Why Successful Crowdfunding Requires a Social-Media Mind-Set | The Crowdfunding Atlas | Scoop.it

"If you tell experienced investors you're planning to crowd-fund your business idea, you're likely to hear that you're walking into a minefield: You'll be relying on naïve individuals who expect to make a killing and are crushed every time they lose a dollar.

But a survey by British crowdfunding facilitator CrowdCube provides a more nuanced picture of these investors, one that shows why it's particularly important for would-be recipients of crowdfunding to understand social media and the way social-technology users think."
