Why are we almost begging the Iraqi government to ask us to keep soldiers in their country beyond the pull-out date

President Eisenhower once warned U.S. citizens to beware of the military-industrial complex and its influence on government. Call me paranoid but I believe there are many signs that his prediction is coming true.

Why Al Qaeda won

With the tenth anniversary of the horrific crime that was 9/11, the question inevitably crops up: well, who won, the United States or Al Qaeda? The politically correct answer seems to go this way: Al Qaeda has been decimated but for Washington, it has been a Pyrrhic victory since in defeating Al Qaeda, the US government engaged in many unnecessary violations of human rights and due process that diminished America in the eyes of both its citizens and the world.
