Because of a new study in Lake Tana research concludes and confirms that there was in fact a widespread drought and political crisis Egypt.

The political crisis due to the death of King Pepe II is one of the leading causes of the fall old kingdom  because there was no one to take king Pepe II place so instead of one ruler there were many rulers.

The wealthy men who had power had no empathy towards peasants. When anarchy erupted they were the men first to be killed since the anger of the villagers was directed towards them.

The death of king Pepe II was also a factor that led to the collapse of the old kingdom there was no one king there were many rulers aka governors. The invasion of the Asiatics was also said to be a factor that led to the fall of the old kingdom.
