HOT Apps 4 Literacy: Episode 10 « techchef4u | The Classroom iPad Library | Scoop.it

This is a supplement to “Appy Hours 4 You” Blog Talk Radio Show: Episode 10 – “HOT Apps 4 Literacy“. In this episode we featured multiple game-like apps that supported English Language Arts content for both elementary and secondary students. Our focus was on how these game apps could be used to create purposeful instructional apptivities (e.g. what a task card and recording sheet might look like and what examples of extensions and follow-up apptivities would be.)

Making Sense of the Apple Volume Purchase Program

Making Sense of the Apple Volume Purchase Program | The Classroom iPad Library | Scoop.it

There are several hoops a school has to go through. First, they apply and get approved by Apple. Once that happens, the bureaucratic fun begins!  The big kahuna is the Program Manager, who is in charge of purchasing “Volume Vouchers” for the school. iPads can’t improve learning without good teaching Pt 1 | The Classroom iPad Library | Scoop.it

"However, no matter how versatile and potentially powerful a product the iPad is, it is merely an extremely expensive placemat without creative, well planned teaching behind its use. iPad Tips & Tricks | The Classroom iPad Library | Scoop.it

"Based on the feedback we received from our staff, we decided to officially start our professional development with ‘iPad Basics’ or as we called it, ‘iPad Tips & Tricks.’ The goal of the PD was to get teachers comfortable with their iPads so that they could become more confident and start experimenting with them in their classrooms. Because we know our teachers are not all at the same place, we created 3 levels of the training."
