We feel that our purpose is to facilitate profound community-driven change! To create enabling conditions for marginalized communities to aspire beyond mere survival through external prescriptions. A responsibility to create and invest in holistic platforms through which communities can collaborate, mobilize their capabilities and chart their own journeys towards self-reliance with both pride and dignity. Integral to this is an embracement of localized solutions that work in harmony with the earth’s natural systems.

Our Vision
A world in which humanity can DREAM, ACT and CHANGE.

Change Management And The Power Of Language

Change Management And The Power Of Language | the Change Samurai | Scoop.it
Language has a huge role to play in the bedding in of new ways of doing things. Language actually defines a culture because it is literally how people connect – changing it significantly shifts the parameters of, and the context for, what is defined, accepted and encouraged. Here are five interconnected ways you can change your language to better complement the actions you intend taking.

Lisa McCarthy's curator insight, July 10, 5:29 PM

Just as every culture was generated and sustained by what people chose to highlight and reinforce, shifts will come when people get the chance to reset the boundaries through conversation. Words are much more than the means to that end. They are the most powerful and vibrant signals because they actually define how actions continue to be talked about. Without that, you have a dumb organization – one muted into doing, guessing and, inevitably, politicking.

Frank J. Papotto, Ph.D.'s curator insight, July 7, 6:14 AM

It is certainly valuable to allow involvement and influence in making changes; people generally respond better to changes they understand and value and are much more likely to do so if they are involved in its planning and implementation. Simply "educating" people does not take into account their specific situation or concerns and so may help make the unfamiliar more familiar, the unknown more known, but still leaves individuals circumstances unaddressed.

The 7 principles of highly effective innovation culture change programs

The 7 principles of highly effective innovation culture change programs | the Change Samurai | Scoop.it
Nothing is more constant than change. Furthermore, the speed of change is accelerating. So for instance, the global knowledge is growing exponentially, disruptive megatrends (e.g. Internet Of Things, urbanization, demographic shifts) are shaping the innovation agendas and new approaches for capturing value by innovation (e.g. Business Model Innovation, Design Thinking) are becoming mainstream. Thus, new realities for innovation management are emerging and firms are forced to change their innovation management ever faster. One might assume that under the constant pressure to change firms have achieved a great deal of excellence in running corporate change initiatives. However, quite the opposite is true. A large study from 2013 showed that only 1 in 2 major change programs succeed. In this 2-part article series, innovation-3’s Frank Mattes shares his deep experience in designing and implementing innovation culture change initiatives. You will find ideas and inspiration about how your firm can increase the chances for success in changing innovation culture.

Renee Gibbins's curator insight, July 17, 3:10 AM

Some of this sounds a bit airy fairy but it has a lot of good points. I believe in the circle of behaviour whereby changing our own behaviour influences the behaviour of those around us. Our Department is going through a huge change and my goal is to end up being in charge of a corporate unit in the Mining Department and change is something we will always need to have a grasp on. I need to better learn to change myself and influence change in others as well as being able to drive and lead change throughout the organisation.

Lisa McCarthy's curator insight, July 10, 5:31 PM

The organizational stories of “self” shape the organizational climate as much as they influence directives, decision-making processes and overall strategies. Organizational narratives are different from employer or employee branding. While branding is a deliberate effort, narratives are born in the moment and reflect the collective fears, hopes and aspirations. As these narratives are based on what large groups perceive as reality, they go viral seemingly effortlessly: from the CEO to the entire staff and back, across suppliers and customers to the outside world.
