Change is two things first being scary, its hard to fathom leaving things behind to jump into something that may or may not work. Second being ever constant; the industry may shuck an jive as much as they wish but they can't out last the the ever growing digital media, and the consumer who would rather subscribe to Pandora and get the same music free over a $10 hard copy.

RIAA Acknowledges Digital Streams for Artist Awards

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has included digitally streamed music to its Gold & Platinum (G&P) Program for the first time.
Bralin Rector's insight:

This is a great thing; there are many artist who have for the lack of a better phrase"Club bangers" that as an artist are never heard of. This will give them a platform to display themselves and there talents. On the flip side of this you could and probaly will inspire many to be "One hit wounders" and down play the skill and artistic side of making music. In my humble opinion it is a necessary evil.
