Singapore has followed Malaysia in declining to host the 2026
Commonwealth Games, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the multi-sport event.

Spain, Portugal and Morocco are set to host the 2030 World Cup, with the African nation determined not to be left behind in the race to host the final. A new 115,000-seater stadium and problems at the Spanish Federation could see the Bernabeu or Camp Nou overturned as venues.

Britain is in the running to host the 2029 World Athletics
Championships, UK Athletics chief executive Jack Buckner said on
Monday, the day after the conclusion of the World Athletics Indoor
Championships in Glasgow.

On Sunday 25 February, India's Sports Minister Anurag Thakur stressed that India's remarkable progress in various fields, especially sports, positions the country as a compelling choice to host the 2036 Olympic Games.

Mexico has withdrawn from the race to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The president of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM), Maria José Alcalá, made the announcement on Tuesday following the presentation of new sponsors for the national team, which will take part in Paris 2024.

November 30 – South Africa have dropped out of the race for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, reducing the bidding field to three bids. The Africans want to focus on landing the 2031 finals.
South Africa, one of four confirmed bidders for the 2027 Women’s World Cup withdrew saying that they were shifting their focus to host the 2031 tournament.

The current mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, firmly expressed his support for Berlin's candidacy to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036 before 600 guests. He stated that the city is ready and that it will be an "exceptional opportunity" to present a new image of Germany to the world.

November 5 – Brazil have confirmed their bid for the 2027 Women’s World. Cup with the handover of a governmental declaration to FIFA by the minister of sport André Fufuca. 
Signed by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the declaration contains the government’s guarantees that FIFA requires from candidate hosts, including tax exemptions, work permits and visa procedures.

October 29 – Having conducted a series of meetings in Portugal and Spain, the three joint bidding nations for the 2030 World Cup officially officially signed their letter confirming their interest to bid in Rabat. Morocco.
The Morocco, Portugal and Spain bid are the only candidates for 2030. While their appointment is virtually a shoo-in, there is nevertheless a lot of horse trading to be done on the way to organising the second of the 48-team World Cup formats.

October 25 – Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany have promised one of the most “compact” tournaments yet in the race to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. 
With co-hosting becoming the norm for FIFA tournaments, leading to a scale and largesse of tournaments that often defies logic and certainly tests sustainability criteria, the trio of European countries has a simple sales pitch: compactness.

October 18 – A week after disclosing they were having talks with Australia about a bid to co-host the 2034 World Cup, the Indonesia FA (PSSI) has backtracked and said the federation is now backing Saudi Arabia, a decision that leaves the 2034 finals within the Arab Kingdom’s touching distance.

October 11 – Saudi Arabia, looking to be a shoo-in to stage the 2034 World Cup now looks to have a potential rival in the bidding process.
Reports suggest Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore could mount a challenge with the competition open solely to nations in the Asian and Oceania confederations,
The president of Indonesia’s FA has confirmed that talks are taking place between the nations. “We are discussing (a bid) with Australia,” PSSI President Erick Thohir was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

October 9 – Saudi Arabia have wasted no time submitting their formal letter of intent to bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup today. Last week FIFA announced after that only nation from the AFC and OFC could bid for 2034.

March 1 – The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), the only country left in the bidding to host the 2034 World Cup, has formally launched its bid campaign under the ‘Growing. Together’ slogan.
SAFF unveiled its bid logo, website, and released ashort bid film t”hat celebrates the passion, spirit and diversity of football in Saudi Arabia”.
President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) Yasser Al Misehal said: “Telling our football story to the world is of massive importance.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has officially backed Lima's bid to host the 2027 Pan American Games, offering her government's support to replace Barranquilla, which lost the hosting rights earlier this year due to breaches of contract.

December 11 – FIFA has received three bids to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, the global governing body confirmed Saturday. 
December 8 was the deadline for nations to confirm their bids with the submission of bid books. In November, South Africa dropped out of the bidding race pivoting their focus toward the 2031 finals, but joint bids by Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium as well as the United States and Mexico will vie with a solo bid from Brazil to win the 2027 hosting rights. October 10 – The UK and Ireland were today confirmed as joint hosts of Euro 2028 following a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee amid considerable debate over how the qualification process will work.
The ExCo decision took place after a presentation by the UK and Ireland Football Association leaders and was a mere formality since the five-nation bid was unopposed after Turkey withdrew to focus on its merged bid with Italy for Euro 2032 which was also rubber-stamped.
