I have had so many conversations or email exchanges with students in the last few years wherein I anger them by indicating that simply saying, "This is my opinion" does not preclude a connected statement from being dead wrong. It still baffles me that some feel those four words somehow...

You can have an opinion on a topic and still be wrong. Lots of people don't get that and use the "It's just my opinion" to justify their ignorant statement.

A very good explanation of why the moon looks like it is being illuminated at the wrong angle during the final phases.

Vsauce does a good job because he uses real examples to illustrate the very clear point he is making.

I like this article because it explains why the illusion works both when you look at the photo from a distance and when you glance at it quickly.

There are many ways to divide the “types of people in this world” in two, but here is one of my favorites: The people who easily see faces in inanimate objects, and the people who usually do not.

I don't think you can classify people as either prone to paredolia or not but this article suggests that neurotic people (a label based on 'surveys') or were in a negative mood were more prone to see faces in inanimate objects. Pinch of salt, required here, methinks.

How researchers managed to convince many media outlets that chocolate helps you lose weight.  The story is not unusual but we can still learn a lot about our biases by reading about the process and the reaction.
