The japanese music industry is booming gradually, at a point to be compared or even leaving US music industry behind in order to become the the largest and most valuable music market in the world, and there are simple explanations. First of all, should be considered that the illegal download has never occurred and music material (such as CDs) are price fixed and definitely expensive to american standards, being sold in average of 3000 yen ($30) within japanese boundaries. There's also no digital service that make Japanese people to think that CDs have no use any longer, which justify the boom of their music market, where there's loads of money circulating because of those physical records, once there is not any reward on this digital world of music. They big play were criminalizing illegal downloads and reinventing a great way to sell and advertise the physical sales. The big pro of it all is that they are now placed as number one music industry, also considering it gives strength to the already stablished labels and studios as well it encourages the appearance of new labels/ studios and manpower. The biggest con of it is the extremely expensive product sold as well as the monopoly of big labels.
