Opinion: 'Every Piece Of New Trayvon Martin Evidence Is Important Except The One They Are Focusing On, The Pot'

Opinion: 'Every Piece Of New Trayvon Martin Evidence Is Important Except The One They Are Focusing On, The Pot' | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

Yesterday, when I wrote up a post on the tons of evidence newly released in the Trayvon Martin case, I neglected to mention the THC in Martin’s system that his autopsy show. A number of commenters accused me of bias in skipping this fact. To them, I have two things to say; One, I’d love to see you try to skim more than a hundred pages of poorly photo-copied documents so that you can write a summary as quickly as possible all while trying to leave at the end of your work day. And, two, who the hell cares?...

Ralph Sasson's comment, May 18, 2012 6:40 PM
I believe that the pot in his system is noteworthy. There seems to be uniform agreement by health professionals that marijuana withdrawal causes irritability, anger, and aggression. Such symptoms may have played a role in Mr. Martin's interaction with Mr. Zimmerman. I'm not saying it did, I'm merely saying that Zimmerman's attorney would be wise to posit this argument.

Cuban Revolutionaries Plot to Overthrow Castro in Photo Exhibit at Freedom Tower in Downtown Miami | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

In the mid-'60s, the phrase embedded journalist had likely never been uttered, let alone ignited a controversy over newspaper ethics.

But that's exactly what Jim Nickless was back then: a freelance cameraman for NBC News who lived among members of the Movement for Revolutionary Recovery (MRR), Cuban revolutionaries plotting to overthrow Fidel Castro, with help from the CIA. He documented their daily activities, their training, the raids they ran. And because he was the only reporter welcome among the fighters, his photos offer the most intimate look inside their world...

Harmony Korine and Glenn O'Brien talk Florida and Cocaine Cowboys

Harmony Korine and Glenn O'Brien talk Florida and Cocaine Cowboys | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

HK: Horrible. All of Florida. I never spent much time there. My grandma used to live there, like Orlando or something. When I was a kid I used to go visit. I heard real estate is pretty good there now, cause they built all those places and nobody’s there. You can buy some house on the water for like not very much money. Florida has a lot of empty homes. Did you see that movie Cocaine Cowboys?

GO: The documentary one? Yeah. There’s actually a fictional movie, Cocaine Cowboys. It came out in the 80’s. It was made by this guy Tom Sullivan, who was actually a cocaine dealer. But that Cocaine Cowboys documentary was pretty wild.

Our vibe around here is championship, that’s the first thing we’re looking forward to, and we’re really not concerned about what the NCAA has to say about it. Our mindset is really set on one thing, and we’ll go from there, depending on what the NCAA has to say..."

As police departments around the country are increasingly caught up in tussles with members of the public who record their activities, the U.S. Justice Department has come out with a strong statement supporting the First Amendment right of individuals to record police officers in the public discharge of their duties.

In a surprising letter sent on Monday to attorneys for the Baltimore Police Department, the Justice Department also strongly asserted that officers who seize and destroy such recordings without a warrant or without due process are in strict violation of the individual’s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights...
