The text accompanying the image -- which is pretty gross, by the way -- reads "I was eating a hash brown from McDonald's on the way home when I felt something on the bottom... "

A few hours ago, I landed in Los Angeles, turned on my phone, and confirmed what you already know. Sony Pictures Television is replacing me as showrunner on Community, with two seasoned fellows that I’m sure are quite nice - actually, I have it on good authority they’re quite nice, because they once created a show and cast my good friend Jeff Davis on it, so how bad can they be...

Lower the bar: Florida board of education lowers FCAT writing test passing score after only 1/3 of students pass

Lower the bar: Florida board of education lowers FCAT writing test passing score after only 1/3 of students pass | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- An emergency rule adopted Tuesday will lower the passing grade for Florida's standardized writing test to keep the failure rate about the same as last year after preliminary results showed it would have dramatically increased otherwise.

The State Board of Education unanimously passed the rule. Without it, only about a third of students would have passed the writing portion of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, or FCAT, compared to 80 percent or better last year.

The passing grade will drop from four to three on a zero-to-six scale. The writing test is given in the fourth, eighth and 10th grades.

Marlins Manager Ozzie Guillen on Dwyane Wade/Erik Spoelstra fight: "I will kick his ass..."

A day after having vowed to be done with Twitter, Ozzie Guillen wasn't backing off his shoot-from-the-hip style of expression, saying Wade's behavior toward Heat coach Erik Spoelstra during a loss Thursday can guarantee a fight:

"I will kick his ass. Well, I won’t say I'll kick his ass. They'll kick my ass because they're bigger than me, and I'm older. But I will take my chances. Some people have to understand our job. That's disrespectful. Why he's saying it, when he said it, that's none of my business. But the player come out and say something (like that to me), he will guarantee a fight. You know how many players I take out of the game and they go in the back and talk crap about me? I don't care because I'm going to talk crap about them. If I take you out of the game it's for a reason. You think I want to take you out of the game? You think I want to pinch-hit for you? I pinch-hit for you because you suck. There's somebody else I thought was better than you."

Comcast to start charging internet customers extra when they go over monthly data limit | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

Comcast Corp., the country's largest Internet service provider, is going to start charging extra when customers go over a certain monthly data limit.

That limit, however, is very high, starting at 300 gigabytes for basic Internet plans. Only 1 percent of U.S. Internet users use that much data in a month, according a measurement firm.

Comcast Corp. said Thursday that it will test charging $10 for every 50 gigabytes over that limit...

Miami waiter bombard with calls from strangers after mystery signs appear in NYC; suspects ex-wife

Miami waiter bombard with calls from strangers after mystery signs appear in NYC; suspects ex-wife | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

A Miami waiter is getting a lot of phone calls from strangers in New York City.

The calls are being prompted from signs that are popping up across the city. They look like advertisements for a man who wants a date.

The stark pieces of paper read: "If anyone wants to talk about anything, call me." There is a phone number and it is signed: "Mark...One lonely guy."

And they appear to be working. Mark Kilburn, 48, has been getting calls every day for the past several weeks. He estimates that he's getting about 20 calls a day.

"I'm positive it's my ex-wife putting up these signs," Kilburn says. "I mean, she's done so many creative things to harass me over the last year that there's no question in my mind it's her..."

Tennessee Man who has 30 kids with 11 women wants break on child-support | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

You have to say this much for Desmond Hatchett: He has a way with the ladies.

The 33-year-old Knoxville, Tenn., resident has reportedly set a Knox County record for his ability to reproduce. He has 30 children with 11 women. And nine of those children were born in the last three years, after Hatchett -- who is something of a local celebrity -- vowed "I'm done!" in a 2009 TV interview, saying he wouldn't father more children.

But Hatchett is back in the news this week because he's struggling to make ends meet on his minimum-wage job. His inability to make child-support payments on such a meager salary also means he's back in court again and again, most recently to ask for a break on those payments...
