Secret Service: 229-page log reveals porn, illegal wiretaps, embezzlement, sexual assaults and drunkenness on duty | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

Via New York Post:

It went way beyond hookers.

Secret Service agents and officers have been accused of leaking sensitive information, publishing porn, sexual assaults, illegal wiretaps, embezzlement and drunkenness on duty, according to a 229-page log released yesterday.

After a prostitution scandal in April, when agents consorted with hookers while preparing for President Obama’s arrival in Colombia, Service Director Mark Sullivan apologized. But he said it was an isolated case, not a “systemic issue.”

However, the log, which the Service Service released yesterday after news organizations requested it under the Freedom of Information Act, shows a pattern of misdeeds dating back to 2003...

"Platshorn did his time, and when he got out, he started trying to make the world a better place and to help sick people. Now, even though he's been officially released from the jurisdiction of the U.S. Parole Commission, the federal government is trying to silence him, ordering travel restrictions -- which would effectively end The Silver Tour -- and forbidding him to associate with fellow Silver Tour director, federal medical marijuana patient Irvin Rosenfeld."

Former Federal Judge Calls U.S. Prosecution Of Megaupload "Really Outrageous" | The Billy Pulpit | Scoop.it

Via techdirt:

"To hear folks in Hollywood talk about it, the US's indictment and prosecution of Megaupload are a done deal. Without any actual trial, people have decided that the company is clearly 100% evil and guilty. Yet, as we keep noting, the details of the indictment and prosecution keep turning up significant errors on the part of the US, as well as questions about the legality of what the US did. And plenty of people who really understand this stuff deeply are speaking out in agreement. The latest is a former federal judge, Abraham David Sofaer, who found the whole situation so troubling that he's helping the EFF -- for free -- with its efforts to get Megaupload users' data back..."
