Tampa, Florida -- A woman got the scare of her life Wednesday morning when her estranged husband tried to strangle her to death with a rope during her morning commute to work.
Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say around 6 a.m., Tania Martinez's estranged husband, who was hiding in the back seat of her car, surprised her when he put a rope around her neck and starting choking her.
During the attack, she lost control of her car which then left the road and hit a fence in the 4500 block of Paris Street West. When she hit the fence, the car went airborne, did a complete flip in the air, and came to a rest on the wheels.
When Martinez -- who was knocked out briefly -- came to, her estranged husband again tried to choke her with the rope. The two struggled in the car until he stopped, for some reason, and fled the scene...(click pic to watch video)
