ORLANDO, Fla. —Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu has been suspended for 20 games for violating the league's anti-drug policy after testing positive for a steroid, the team announced Wednesday.
Turkoglu, 33, tested positive for methenolone, an anabolic steroid.
His suspension began last night when the team hosted the Atlanta Hawks.
Turkoglu said he was given a substance while home in Turkey over the summer by his trainer to help recover from a shoulder injury. He said he didn't know it was banned before taking it.
"It was feeling better after I took it, and that was it. It wasn't something that I came in and, you know what I'm saying, all jacked up and great body, you know what I'm saying -- flying off the roof and dunking all the balls," he said.
Turkoglu called it an "error in judgment" and said he apologizes to the team and his fans...
