The former Florida governor and a group of investors recently made a "large offer" to buy the Miami Marlins from its current owner, Jeffrey Loria.
Loria declined to sell.
Bush would not have been the first member of his family to get into the business of baseball. His brother, former President George W. Bush, owned a stake in the Texas Rangers from 1989 to 1998.
A spokesman for Jeb Bush declined to comment; a spokeswoman for the Miami Marlins told CBS News, "We do not comment on rumors, other than the Marlins are not for sale..."
