Skyla Miracle Milton wears a soft cast on the arm that was shot when her pregnant mother was shot on Dec. 9.
“The bullet hit her right here in her forearm and it came out through her elbow right here,” father Phillip Milton said, gesturing. “So her forearm bone was broken also, and the elbow bone was broken. It was shattered like a piece of glass. I've seen the X-rays.”
After Tiffany Davis was shot outside an Overtown convenience store, Skyla had to be delivered four weeks early.
“She hasn't seen the baby, she hasn't gotten to hold the baby or nothing, she hasn't seen her. She's seen pictures,” Milton said.
Milton said he was first on the scene of the shooting where one man was killed and his baby's mother was shot in the head.
“Mom's doing good. Mom, she's making great progress also,” he said. “She's in therapy now, rehabilitation, so she can walk, she can speak. She's aware of everything. She's coherent..."
