Weeks after her father was gunned down at a Flagami trailer park, Noemi Sanchez's grief has only grown.
Late Thanksgiving night, Sanchez said, her father, Cosme Garcia Sanchez, stepped in to protect a friend in what became a tense argument involving a group of women at the Paradise Trailer Park off Northwest South River Drive.
Police said the altercation turned violent once Juan Rabeiro Amezcua entered the picture.
“He kept escalating the situation by bringing a machete in to the fight. When that wasn't enough, he went and got a gun,” Miami Police Det. Frankie Sanchez said.
With that gun, he fired into the crowd, striking Sanchez several times, police said. The 54-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Rabeiro Amezcua, 37, remains at large, police said. They urge anyone with information to call the Miami Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
