University of Miami associate athletic director for compliance David Reed — the man who, according to former booster Nevin Shapiro in the original Yahoo! Sports exposé, was troubled by Shapiro and investigated him — is leaving UM to take a job as associate athletics director for compliance at the University of Kansas.
The Yahoo! report published in August 2011 said “Shapiro felt Reed had been implementing rules that were too stringent, to keep boosters and players apart.” Shapiro described a loud scene in the press box of the Orange Bowl, when he verbally confronted Reed during halftime of UM’s final game there in 2007.
“I had to be held back from hitting him,” Shapiro said in the report. “I wanted to punch him in the face.”
