Credibility Boosters

Add as many “Credibility Boosters” as you can. Think BBB accreditation, or secure/safe site logos, even adding Visa and Mastercard logos help transfer credibility to you (people see the trusted logos and somehow feel more at ease – tests have proven it!). Share testimonials (don’t throw them all on one page; sprinkle them throughout the site so people see them as they browse your site). If you have any guarantees or awards or special recognition, make those prominent on the site. If you belong to any organizations that enhance your credibility, list those as well.

Storytelling Implications: Appealing To Values, Not Attitudes

Storytelling Implications: Appealing To Values, Not Attitudes | Social Content Curation Library | Scoop.it
In any industry, some of the most successful new business ideas are the most radical. But these are also the most likely to fail, fast. Having a proposition that goes against the prevailing view can be game-changing; if you can get people to agree with you. And there’s the hard [...]

Here's something to think about over the weekend -- when you are sharing your stories is your objective to change attitudes or values?

Turns out the answer could make a world of difference for you if you want to be more successful.

For many years I wrote about values (personal and organization), did workshops about them, and diagnosed companies regarding them. Here is part of what I taught:  values generate beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes. But the foundation is always a person's values.

So if you really want to fundamentally change yourself -- or facilitate change in someone else -- look to values.

This article does a handy job of explaining all of this and shares some important research from 2012 about circumventing resistance.

Bottom line for storytelling: craft your stories to address values, not simply attitudes. If you do so, you will rock the world.

7 Skills To Look For When Hiring A Content Marketing Strategist | B2B Marketing Insider | Social Content Curation Library | Scoop.it

Digest...

-- >  Digital Strategy: Experience and ideally management of the resources responsible for the publication of a brand’s content through social channels. More than just a community manager, you need someone who understands the channels your audience is using, knows the nuances and context for each, and knows how to maximize your company resources to drive impact across digital channels.

-- >  Project management: Editors are project managers with a deep understanding of what your brand should be saying and how it should be saying it.

-- >  Analytics: Content marketing requires a deep knowledge of common analytic tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.) and optimization approaches (A/B testing, multivariate tools).

-- >  Business Acumen: You need your content marketing leader to have the ability to translate what you are doing, why you are doing it and to be able to present the business value of content marketing to business people.

-- >  Content Strategy: Your content marketing strategist has to understand how to make magic with limited resources!

-- >  Inbound marketing mindset: Maybe I should have made this number 1. But inbound marketing and content marketing are a mindset. You need someone with demonstrated proficiency in earning audience attention through classic inbound techniques (search, social). This includes a solid understanding of SEO and the way to create content that attracts attention.

-- >  Social Proof: I required every one on my team to contribute to our content marketing efforts. You don’t need to be a great writer or have a huge social following. But I was looking for people interested in learning how to create consistent content and grow their personal brands through content and social. So look to see if they understand how to use content on social personally themselves (Twitter following, publishes regularly on a blog, active on Facebook or Instagram, etc). Or, if they are not active, gain an understanding of what brands or people they want to emulate if they were active.

The Psychology of Color in Marketing and Branding via HuffPost

The Psychology of Color in Marketing and Branding via HuffPost | Social Content Curation Library | Scoop.it

Marty Note
Great HuffPost roundup of several important infographics and psychology of color studies. Which ones surprised you? Problem is every website wants ALL of those emotions, but not all at once (lol). Key is picking right color for right content / place on your site.

RED may SUCK as a homepage because it chases people away, but red could ROCK as an accent. Red "buy" buttons have only been beat ONE TIME in thousands of tests we've run. So find the right color conversation and have it at the right time.

At Curagami (http://www.Curagami.com) we think of colors as ways to help tell stories. We try to "match the hatch" of the story we are telling to colors in our images or within supporting graphics such as icons or widgets.

When our story is EXCITING we like RED or variations of it. We may also isolate the red by using black and white. Isolating red makes its power SHOUT in just the right minimal way sometimes. Too much red makes you want to RELAX so we may follow a RED with a soothing green or blue.

Websites are hub and spoke so it van be impossible to map stories to color in sequence. BUT if you match the PAGE to your colors you can win and be sure to daisy chain content telling the same story with enough similar colors and scenttrail to create a sense of connection. If you tell a GREEN story and suddenly smack your readers with too much red they RUN.

Win the page, link the page and win the psychology of color battle in your web design.

And YES I'm breaking my Big Blogs curation rule for the 3rd time in a day (lol). Soon as you state a stupid rule like that you break it and that is a definite RULE (lol). M

Twitter has just released a new video feature.

Further than 140 characters! Twitter has just released a new video feature. Together, with the great results of a new survey, they reveal that (as some social media experts already noticed) the microblogging site is steadily turning to video content, mining the supremacy of traditional text-and-image tweets and making things easier for video ads and explainer video marketing.

The Twitter Developers’ site has released several video facts from last year and that’s how we know that tweeters’share about 50 video tweets per second. More recently, things just got a bit more awesome for video marketing; one of their recent surveys revealed that today, video content generates better engagement and views on Twitterthan ever before and that’s nothing but great news for online businesses who want to expand their social reach!

Salesforce launches 'Journey Builder' to visualize & manage all your customers, everywhere - VentureBeat

Salesforce launches 'Journey Builder' to visualize & manage all your customers, everywhere - VentureBeat | Social Content Curation Library | Scoop.it

Digest...

Salesforce ExactTarget Marketing Cloud (try saying that three times fast) has launched a new visual “Journey Builder” that promises to enable marketers to understand, define, and create coherent, unified customer experiences across Web, social, email, apps, advertising, sales, and service.

That’s a big promise. And it’s available today.

Salesforce plans to deliver on this promise by providing essentially a drag-and-drop graphical user interface for customer interactions, across all your media and channels. Salesforce calls it a “canvas,” which marketers can use to map customer journeys across apps and social and email, building flows and stages through which they hope to bring prospects and existing customers.

Journey Builder is available today, but the new features won’t be available until about November/October of this year.

Pricing will start at $5,000/month for a subscription, with the dollars rising as you send more messages to customers via the system.

Digest...

At the very least, consider creating a social media friendly landing page that presents one simple decision.

-- >  Keep the copy consistent with the voice your fans find in the social media wilds.

-- >  Keep visuals clean and in character with your social media aesthetic.

-- >  Don't ask for anything other than the conversion you need.

-- >  Save the Like, +1, Pin It, and other social media buttons for the confirmation page.

-- >  The desktop versions of Facebook and Twitter have a very similar look and feel, you may find that copy variations that suit the particular channel culture is enough to boost the conversion rate.

-- >  Minimizing copy and creating more visual calls to action may resonate better with Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram audiences.

-- >  Creating landing pages to fit the channel enables more testing and a better understanding of your brand's social sphere of influence.

Out of everything here, the thought of saving the Like, +1, etc. for the post conversion page makes perfect sense. You need to keep the focus on the form and not create any friction.
