The Revolving Door of Technology in Education | The Tech Savvy Educator

The Revolving Door of Technology in Education | The Tech Savvy Educator | The 21st Century | Scoop.it

"Instead, let’s take a few moments to lament that the more things change, the more they stay the same, including technology. It would seem that the more creative, collaborative, and integral technological tools become to education, the quicker people are to turn these new tools into nothing more than digital pencils."

Eric Moss's curator insight, June 29, 12:39 PM

Looking at this topics image really summarizes the article to its fullest, in with the new, and out with the old. Social media seems to be turning away from the networking it was all about in the past, now it seems to all be relating to who can grow the largest audience in the shortest amount of time. Determining where we are to be headed seems to have become a waiting game. What the public accepts into society, and what we do not allow seems to come with time. Simplicity and functionality are looking to be what the future holds. Many people neither have the time, nor patience to feel like learning a completely new idea. Building off things we have, and replacing them with similar ideas might just be where we are headed.

Marilyn Korhonen's curator insight, June 20, 2013 10:21 AM

The future is not about a single device or set of devices. According to this author,

"The future is about access, anywhere learning and collaboration, both locally and globally. Teaching and learning is going to be social. Schoolsof the future could have a traditional cohort of students, as well as online only students who live across the country or even the world. Things are already starting to move this way with the emergence of massive open online courses (MOOCs)."

Jennifer Shackles's curator insight, July 6, 2013 7:44 PM
