Dr. Susan Bainbridge's insight:

This is a great list, but are these not skills. Literacy means the ability to read and write. I think we use the term too frequently these days to refer to computer and Internet 'skills'.

Do you remember the days before you carried around the world in your pocket?

That would have been before Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist, submitted his proposal for what became the Web back in March of 1989. The Web turned 25 years old this week and it's hard to imagine an invention or process that has changed our lives as much in recent history, impacting everything from political movements to our love lives.

Alison D. Gilbert's curator insight, March 22, 2014 4:51 PM

Two pieces of news on one day and the contrast almost could not be bigger: this interview with the founder of UofPeople, a non-profit, worldwide online set of courses in business and computer--let's call it a university. And then the law suit starting in New York against what used to be called Trump University, which dropped the 'university' name after pressure form US states and now is accused of being a for-profit scam (http://www.worldpropertychannel.com/north-america-residential-news/trump-university-donald-trump-eric-schneiderman-real-estate-courses-trump-organization-trump-entrepreneur-initiative-7265.php#sthash.pheEVOrh.uxfs)
