The Padagogy Wheel - It’s Not About The Apps, It’s About The Pedagogy -

The Padagogy Wheel - It’s Not About The Apps, It’s About The Pedagogy - | The 1 iPad Classroom | Scoop.it
The Padagogy Wheel is designed to help educators think – systematically, coherently, and with a view to long term, big-picture outcomes – about how they use mobile apps in their teaching. The Padagogy Wheel is all about mindsets; it’s a way of thinking about digital-age education that meshes together concerns about mobile app features, learning transformation, motivation, cognitive development and long-term learning objectives.

The Padagogy Wheel, though, is not rocket science. It is an everyday device that can be readily used by everyday teachers; it can be applied to everything from curriculum planning and development, to writing learning objectives and designing centered activities. The idea is for the users to respond to the challenges that the Wheel presents for their teaching practices, and to ask themselves the tough questions about their choices and methods.

One iPad Classroom - A Crowdsourced Reference - READ WRITE RESPOND

One iPad Classroom - A Crowdsourced Reference - READ WRITE RESPOND | The 1 iPad Classroom | Scoop.it

"Although some schools are going one-to-one iPads, there is a growing trend of teachers purchasing their own iPad and bringing them into the classroom. This is a different proposition. Where I have written about how an iPad can support teacher’s professional and personal learning, I have not written about how iPads can be used to support learning within the classroom. I therefore put out a call for thoughts and ideas on Twitter: "

"As a teacher, you are used to create your own lessons. The xerox, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint are your trusted companions. But how can you effectively use iPads in your lessons?

The ebooks provided by publishers are mostly static and just not interesting enough for today’s students. Some educational apps are great, but finding the rights ones, figuring out how they work and getting them installed on all student devices can be a hassle.

3 EdTech Tools for the One iPad Classroom - Daily Genius

3 EdTech Tools for the One iPad Classroom - Daily Genius | The 1 iPad Classroom | Scoop.it
iPads are amazing learning instruments that can improve instruction and student engagement dramatically. Those of us privileged enough to work in 1:1 iPad classrooms can attest to that. But lets be realistic: most classrooms around the world do not have access to the funds and resources necessary to equip a full classroom with iPads for each student. There are numerous teachers who have access to only one iPad at school, or they just own an iPad and think it would be a great idea to be able to use in the classroom. Luckily, there are several EdTech tools teachers can use in the One iPad Classroom in order to create lessons that are exciting, and provide unique educational experiences for all students.

In preparing for a Green Screen Workshop this week, my good friend Matt and I created this presentation profiling the app Green Screen Movie FX Studio, by Epocfield ($2.99, iTunes link). We have been using this app for almost two years now, and have been very happy with what it can achieve. Although the learning curve for this app is steeper than most, the possibilities are limitless. If you take some time to play around and learn how to use this app, you can really have a lot of fun with it. We used it with third to six graders a couple of summers ago, and they were able to do it quite well.
