A Snapshot Of How Technology Is Used In Education [Infographic]

A Snapshot Of How Technology Is Used In Education [Infographic] | The 1:1 Classroom Experience | Scoop.it

There is little question that technology has made a lasting change to the world of education. But what that change actually is remains to be seen. Is the legacy of technology’s impact on education that of MOOCs, iPads, and 1:1 classrooms? I hope not. I think there’s a lot more to come and this infographic helps bolster my case. It details a lot of useful factoids regarding how technology is used in education by both teachers and students.

For example, technology has had a profound change on how students actually study, how they communicate with the school administration, and really how they go about their day-to-day lives. This visualization sheds some light on how important students rank their school website, how many professors have a social media account (80%), and how many teachers actually use social media during class. While it doesn’t go into a ton of detail, this is a great snapshot in time of where we’re currently at in terms of education technology.

As we wrap up another school year, it's time to take a snapshot of how technology is used in education. From teachers to students, this is a good one.

Reflections from an Elementary School Principal: How to Support My Teachers with our 1:1 Initiative?

Reflections from an Elementary School Principal: How to Support My Teachers with our 1:1 Initiative? | The 1:1 Classroom Experience | Scoop.it

"In my last post I shared that we are going 1:1 with iPads in all of our preschool through 5th grade classrooms in our building. Now, my question is how can I lead/support my teachers to use them in meaningful ways to transform learning? We are fortunate to have an Instructional Media Specialist that is extremely helpful in supporting teachers to try a new tool. We also will be investing in training from Certified Apple Trainers. But what can I do? "

How To Address Negative Student Behavior in 1:1 Classrooms - Edudemic

How To Address Negative Student Behavior in 1:1 Classrooms - Edudemic | The 1:1 Classroom Experience | Scoop.it

"I strongly believe that technology is going to completely revolutionize the classroom. But when are we going to start addressing the negative aspects of the one-to-one classroom? When are we going to acknowledge the fact that just because every student has a device it does not mean that they will get a 36 on the ACT? I have seen videos of babies that can play with an iPad, but that does not mean that high school students intuitively know how to use one to effectively collaborate and communicate in the classroom.

Let’s be honest: using technology in the classroom can be harder than teaching the ‘old way’."

Reflections from an Elementary School Principal: We're Going 1:1 with iPads!!! | The 1:1 Classroom Experience | Scoop.it

"Can you hear my excitement already? You read that right...we are going 1:1 with iPads in all of our preschool through 5th grade classrooms in our elementary school.

Since I have learned from so many other blogs about integrating technology I plan to share our learning here, but also hope to get input from others on questions that we have.

Here's what led up to this 1:1 decision:"
