How Imagination Shapes Your Reality

How Imagination Shapes Your Reality | Thanks Attitude | Scoop.it

Western thinkers have tended to draw a line between reality—that which we “actually” experience—and imagination, seen as a frivolous, dreamlike diversion. For millennia, though, spiritual contemplatives and artists have taken flights of fancy much more seriously and challenged the firmness of that line. And surprising recent advances in neuroscience, particularly in the field of brain scanning, have added support to their conviction that our imagination and sense of reality are closely intertwined. The human capacity for imagination not only shapes our minds but also weaves the fabric of reality itself.

Maria Teresa Frezet terapeuta olistica's insight:

Once we understand the great power we have to create our reality, then we start clearing up our thoughts and emotions because we definetly want to create a plesant life!!!!

Some suggestions? Let's start learning how we are and what we feel inside by observing the reactions that we arouse in other people...Let's understand that only through this sort of "mirror effect" we can actually get to know ourselves and change our world!

This is the main idea of Thanks Attitude. By accepting the theory of the mirror, the consequence is gratitude towards people and situations that are on our way to show us parts we wouldn't be able to see on our own.

Negative Emotions are Key to Well-Being

Negative Emotions are Key to Well-Being | Thanks Attitude | Scoop.it

Feeling sad, mad, critical or otherwise awful? Surprise: negative emotions are essential for mental health.

Anger and sadness are an important part of life, and new research shows that experiencing and accepting such emotions are vital to our mental health. Attempting to suppress thoughts can backfire and even diminish our sense of contentment.

Instead of backing away from negative emotions, accept them. Acknowledge how you are feeling without rushing to change your emotional state. Many people find it helpful to breathe slowly and deeply while learning to tolerate strong feelings or to imagine the feelings as floating clouds, as a reminder that they will pass. I often tell my clients that a thought is just a thought and a feeling just a feeling, nothing more.

Maria Teresa Frezet terapeuta olistica's insight:

The point is always the same... If we refuse something, this comes back even bigger! Whike if we accept we are made of different parts (emotions), without putting an excessive judgment on it, we will soon experience a real balance and a steady well-being!

We can be mindful of our negative emotions, just as we can our positive emotions. Nonjudgemental. Overtime, negative emotions may be experienced less.

A lot of insight in those so called negative emotions. When they are truly heard, they tend to integrate better, and become harmonious.
Dr. Amy Fuller's curator insight, August 7, 2013 11:34 PM

We learn so much about ourselves when we are aware and allow our negative emotions with a sense of curiousity. Learning to walk alongside instead of up against our negative emotion is important to our emotional health.

As mentioned in the last sentence of the article: "changing your environment can also change your outlook on life" it is very important to understand why we are creating unhappy conditions around us. Therefore, another suggestion to change the environment is to accept first of all that we are very powerful creators and we create our own reality. If we fully accept this, than we can also accept that we have the key to change the conditions...by simply "using" others as a mirror. Every time we experience unhappiness in some situations, we could start asking ourselves "what is this situation/person showing me? Which part of myself can I see through him/her?" Thanks Attitude philosophy can give you some good advices on how to do it.... Www.thaatt.com

Maria Teresa Frezet terapeuta olistica's insight:
