5 Common Personal Branding SEO Mistakes

5 Common Personal Branding SEO Mistakes | Personal Branding Using Scoopit |
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Personal Branding & SEO
It is easy to make personal banding SEO mistakes. Avoid these 5 common personal branding SEO mistakes and you will get that new job, increase your network and finally be fully appreciated :).

5 Common Personal Branding Mistakes
1. No Google Plus Profile (BIG Mistake).

2. Not using your Google Profile page to support your brand.

3. Not thinking of you as a "Brand" needing curation and SEO.

4. Only use ONE social net (got to use em all...sorry).

5. Not using keywords.

I could go on and on here since it is easy for all of us to ignore our brands until we want to change jobs or take some action. Waiting until you want to make a change is a BAD idea. Personal brands are best tended daily and not in an emergency situation.

Google Plus is the most disruptive social net. When author tags become common, and they will, your G+ presence will be beyond important. Get active on Google Plus today if you aren't already.

Everything you do either builds or destroys your personal brand. There is no neutral, so swimming in place, in online marketing. You WILL do things that hurt your personal brand since that is unavoidable. Don't obsess.

Instead of insisting on a false perfection work on winning more "personal brand" battles than you are losing. Be sure to be active on AT LEAST 5 social nets: Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and one other of your choosing (such as @Scoopit).

Be sure to use KEYWORDS such as "Internet marketing" or "email marketing" when discussing your experience. Keywords are your friends :).
