Honored to be a "Huggable People" even if reading about my life feels more chaotic than living it was (I think lol). @Carla Deter is kind and generous to "hug" me like this.

Hugs are VERY important to cancer patients and survivors, so Hug a cancer survivor today and remember to never take the magic carpet ride of life for granted.

Appreciate mentions of @Scoop.it  and forgot to thank @Guillaume Decugis and @Ally Greer. Thanks always to you and Marc for letting me play with your wonderful toy. Your toy is why I'm a Huggable People :). Marty

Forbes' commentary is very shallow. PayPal does not "freeze companies" on a whim and certainly would prefer not having to do so. However, fraud is pervasive and fighting fraud is all but easy. New payment systems that pretend to "simplify" payments often backtrack when fraud hits them for real.

Go Ecom Yourself! Can Crowdfunding & Ecom Help Personal Branding? A: Yes

Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Crowdfunding You
This link is to a post about how crowdfunding and ecommerce are stronger together than apart. Can crowdfunding and ecommerce help your personal brand too? Yes and here's how.

How To Crowdfund & Ecom Yourself
Crowdfunding is a fancy way of saying, "Create a marketplace platform". Anything can become a platform including your ideas. The addition of a crowdfunding platform is about to be SaaS easy (one of the things we are working on at AtlanticBT.com is creating an inexpensive SaaS to add crowdfunding to anything).

Anytime you ask for the sentient mob to weigh in you are crowdfunding. When you use 99Designs.com to create a logo you are crowdsourcing and they are crowdfunding (since you pay them). Here are a few ideas for personal crowdfunding / crowdsourcing:

* Polls and Surveys.

* Contests and Games.
* Ideas.

* Content marketing.

* Network building.

* Link shares.

Transform your thinking about your personal brand in three ways:

1. Lose the "Personal".

2. Become a rich PLATFORM not a website.
3. Think Brand US not YOU.

When you shift your thinking about how you present yourself from a closed loop "all about me" to an open and social "all about us" your Internet marketing power goes up tenfold.

Ecom Yourself
When I say, "Go Ecom Yourself," it is not an insult. When you create a store you experience Internet marketing at a different level. We can TALK about taxonomy, visual organization and other web design concepts all day, but creating a single store will teach you faster.

These days creating a store is cheap and fast. I created the Story of Cancer Store (https://storyofcancer.gostorego.com/) in a matter of days. Become an Amazon and Apple affiliate and sell books, music and cool tech. The process of creating the store, writing the copy and learning the ropes will be invaluable if you never make a dime.

The next time you interview make sure your store URL is on your resume. Hiring managers want people who can create things and your store is sure to create a more robust and viable brand no matter what job you apply for.

so go Ecom Yourself and use your crowdfunding platform to tell you what to sell :). M

PS. BTW, Scoopit is an amazing crowdfunding tool. Scoopit provides the fastest content marketing feedabck loop on the web. I am determined to figure out how to hang a store off it too (stay tuned). Marty
