Origins and Techniques of Monarch Mind Control

Origins and Techniques of Monarch Mind Control | test | Scoop.it
Throughout the course of history, several accounts have been recorded describing rituals and practices resembling mind control. One of the earliest writings giving reference to the use of occultism to manipulate the mind can be found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. It is a compilation of rituals, heavily studied by today’s secret societies, which describes methods of torture and intimidation (to create trauma), the use of potions (drugs) and the casting of spells (hypnotism), ultimately resulting in the total enslavement of the initiate. Other events ascribed to black magic, sorcery and demon possession (where the victim is animated by an outside force) are also ancestors of Monarch programming.

Mobile DNA | Abstract | Tos17 rice element: incomplete but effective

Tos17 was the first LTR retrotransposon (Copia) described as active in cultivated rice, and is present in two copies in the genome of the sequenced Nipponbare variety. Only the chromosome 7 copy is active and able to retrotranspose, at least during in vitro culture, and this ability was widely used in insertional mutagenesis assays.

Synthetic biology approaches to engineering the nitrogen symbiosis in cereals

Synthetic biology approaches to engineering the nitrogen symbiosis in cereals | test | Scoop.it

Nitrogen is abundant in the earth’s atmosphere but, unlike carbon, cannot be directly assimilated by plants. The limitation this places on plant productivity has been circumvented in contemporary agriculture through the production and application of chemical fertilizers. The chemical reduction of nitrogen for this purpose consumes large amounts of energy and the reactive nitrogen released into the environment as a result of fertilizer application leads to greenhouse gas emissions, as well as widespread eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems. The environmental impacts are intensified by injudicious use of fertilizers in many parts of the world. Simultaneously, limitations in the production and supply of chemical fertilizers in other regions are leading to low agricultural productivity and malnutrition. Nitrogen can be directly fixed from the atmosphere by some bacteria and Archaea, which possess the enzyme nitrogenase. Some plant species, most notably legumes, have evolved close symbiotic associations with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Engineering cereal crops with the capability to fix their own nitrogen could one day address the problems created by the over- and under-use of nitrogen fertilizers in agriculture. This could be achieved either by expression of a functional nitrogenase enzyme in the cells of the cereal crop or through transferring the capability to form a symbiotic association with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. While potentially transformative, these biotechnological approaches are challenging; however, with recent advances in synthetic biology they are viable long-term goals. This review discusses the possibility of these biotechnological solutions to the nitrogen problem, focusing on engineering the nitrogen symbiosis in cereals.

Sherlock and the case of the Russian knock-off

Sherlock and the case of the Russian knock-off | test | Scoop.it

A new Russian crime series seems to have taken ahem, inspiration from the BBC Sherlock's opening credits...

Good-naturedly retweeted today by Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss with the words "Ha! The sincerest form of flattery" were the opening credits to new Russian crime series, the title of which translates as Freud's Method.

Before we say anything else, why not take a look at the title sequence: [Click the title to jump to the site and see the opening credits of both series. It's an interesting comparison and the music, in particular, is very obviously 'inspired by' BBC Sherlock]

And to think, Sherlock producer Sue Vertue was worried about CBS' Elementary infringing on the BBC show's rights...

Freud's Method tells the story of a special consultant to the police who solves "complex cases using outstanding insight and brilliant logic". Here are what appear to be the synopsis and first trailer for the show, courtesy of production company StarMediaFilm:

"Special consultant Roman Freydin is introduced to the crime detection department under the Prosecutor’s Office. A psychologist and professional poker player in his younger days, Freydin traveled extensivelythroughout Russia and Europe dealing with many people from different professions - from qualified psychoanalysts to magicians and fortune-tellers, from celebrated scientists to illegal gamblers.

When investigating a crime, Freydin uses scientific methods but is ultimately guided by his intuition. He pieces together events from the crime scene creating psychological and physical profiles of the perpetrators so that he is able to preempt their next move leading to their capture. While the foundation of Roman’s approach is psychological science, his method – Freud’s method – is about directly provoking his suspects in order to catch them out.

Unfortunately, he also employs this method in dealing with his new colleagues, which is met with a variety of negative responses.

Nevertheless, his fellow officers acknowledge Freudakov as a brilliant expert and perhaps because of his odd and eccentric methods, Freud is able to solve some of the most complex cases using his outstanding insight and brilliant logic."
