Blasphemy Riots: Muslims of all stripes hit the streets, clerics call for murder fatwa

Blasphemy Riots: Muslims of all stripes hit the streets, clerics call for murder fatwa | Terrorists | Scoop.it

-----
Qur'an (5:33) Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment
-----

(Israel National News) Lebanese Muslims, both Sunni and Shiite, took to the streets on Friday to protest against an anti-Islam film and French cartoons insulting the prophet Mohammed, with radical clerics issuing death calls.

AFP reported that protests were staged in several cities across Lebanon, including in the capital, the southern port of Sidon, Tripoli in the north and the eastern city of Baalbek.

French schools closed and the army guarded French institutions in Sidon, Beirut and Tripoli, in anticipation of a backlash against the publication of obscene cartoons of Mohammed in a French satirical magazine.

In Sidon, Sunni clerics called "a day of rage" against insults to the Mohammed but urged followers to contain their anger to inside their mosques.

The Sunni authority for Sidon and several clerics in Tripoli called for Saudi Arabia and Egypt's Al-Azhar -- the highest authorities in Sunni Islam -- to issue a fatwa condoning the murder of anyone associated with the film and for those who denigrate Islam or its prophet.

"He who dares to insult Islam and the Prophet Mohammed shall not live. There are things that cannot be tolerated and insulting the Prophet Mohammed is one of them," Sheikh Maher Hammoud, imam of the Quds mosque, was quoted by AFP as having said in his sermon.

"Every one of these should be killed,” he said.

An AFP correspondent in Sidon said that after weekly Muslim prayers, protesters burned U.S. and Israeli flags while chanting "Death to America, death to Israel!"

In Tripoli, radical Islamist cleric Omar Bakri called on the "soldiers of Islam" to avenge the creators of the film mocking Islam that was produced in the United States and publishers of the cartoons, an AFP correspondent reported.

Bakri asked fellow Muslims to support a fatwa that would make it "legitimate to kill those who have insulted the Prophet Mohammed."

"I'm not in favor of the demonstrations that condemn, because they do more harm than good. They are not a solution to stop these continuous abuses against our religion; this can only happen with a strong response," Bakri was quoted as having said.

Outside Tripoli, Sheikh Mustafa Malas decried the silence of Arab and Muslim officials toward their American and French counterparts.

"Arab and Islamic countries must take a decisive stand against the United States and France after the insults to our Prophet, and boycott their goods," he said in a Friday sermon.

Protesters also burned American and Israeli flags outside a Beirut mosque, where troops stood guard nearby, AFP reported.

Meanwhile in Pakistan, at least 15 people died as fresh protests erupted against the film and the cartoons.

AFP reported that tens of thousands took to the streets after the main weekly prayers in Middle Eastern and Asian countries to vent their anger, with little sign that the angry protests which began last week would abate.

France has shut embassies, consulates, cultural centers and schools in 20 Muslim countries, fearing the fury will spread from U.S. targets.

Germany wrestles with ban on anti-Islam film screening

Germany wrestles with ban on anti-Islam film screening | Terrorists | Scoop.it

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY: It doesn't get much more Orwellian than the ludicrous assertion made by the Interior Minister.

"Banning the film would not constitute an attack on the freedom of expression."

-----

(AFP) German politicians and Muslim groups are agonising over whether to ban a small far-right group from screening in public an anti-Islam film that has sparked violent protests from Pakistan to Sudan.

The Pro Deutschland (Pro Germany) group has vowed to show the full-length version of the film "Innocence of Muslims", which was made in America and has been deemed insulting to Islam in a cinema, in Berlin, which has a large Muslim community.

Fearing the sort of violence that has swept parts of the Islamic world, including Germany's own embassy in Khartoum, German authorities have said they will make efforts at banning showing the film.

Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said such a screening would be a "political action" that would only serve to "pour oil on the fire".

Banning the film, he said, would not constitute an attack on the freedom of expression.

"In this case, I consider it appropriate to consider all legal possibilities linked to the right to hold public demonstrations ... to see how we can act against it," Friedrich told Phoenix rolling news channel on Tuesday.

For her part, Chancellor Angela Merkel told a news conference earlier in the week she could see "good reasons" to prevent the film being screened. Merkel, who hails from former communist East Germany and often refers to her attachment to freedom of expression, said the question was whether the film was a risk to national security.

Germany itself has come under attack with its embassy in the Sudanese capital being stormed and set ablaze on Friday by protesters as demonstrations against the film swept the Muslim world.

Islamists have frequently deplored the country's military role in Afghanistan, where Germany is the third-largest provider of troops in the NATO-led force.

Merkel also inflamed tempers in September 2010 when she spoke out in defence of a Danish cartoonist whose drawing of the Prophet Mohammed with a bomb for a turban, first published in 2005, earned him death threats, as he was given an award in Germany.

Authorities in Berlin, home to more than 100,000 citizens of Turkish descent, called for cinema managers to boycott the film.

"We should allow no room" for "targeted provocation", said Dilek Kolat, a politician responsible for integration issues in the city-state. continue reading

(Video) France to close embassies and schools over naked Muhammad cartoon

-----

Muslims,

It should be clear at this point, but to ensure there's no miscommunication—THE ANSWER IS NO. Irrespective of what our idiotic governments say or do, the Kuffar will not comply with blasphemy laws or demands to respect Islam. We will continue exposing the gigantic human rights violation called Sharia law, while mocking your pedophile prophet, and exercising our freedoms to offend you and your backwards cult—no matter what.

BTW, the more you react, the more you help convict Islam of being exactly what we say it is, and the more we will push your buttons as a result. Don't fall into the mistaken belief that, if you engage in enough violence, you can silence us. Muslim violence only helps spread disdain for your 7th century creed of death and destruction. It will not silence us. The reality is you are in a lose-lose situation here. Violent outbursts and murderous rampages serve only to assist the Kuffar in making the case against Islam, but not acting means being forced to live with the repercussions of free speech and the "blasphemy" it protects (another win for the Infidel masses).

-----

(Blaze) Less than a year after its offices were firebombed and during a week gripped by anti-Western violence in the Muslim world, French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is holding no punches, publishing on Wednesday cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed naked. And now fear over backlash has prompted the French to close embassies and schools across the Middle East.

Magazine Editor Stephane Charbonnier says that the pictures will “shock those who will want to be shocked.” Reuters reports from Paris:

Issues of the magazine hit newsstands with a front cover showing an Orthodox Jew pushing a turbaned figure in a wheelchair with several caricatures of the Prophet on its inside pages, including some of him naked. The front page cartoon had the wheelchair-bound figure saying “You mustn’t mock“ under the headline ”Untouchable 2″, a reference to a hugely popular French movie about a paralyzed rich white man and his black assistant.

In the wake of attacks against U.S. and other Western targets in the Middle East over the anti-Islam film “Innocence of Muslims,” French authorities are voicing criticism at the timing of the publication and have deployed police to protect the magazine’s offices. Security at French diplomatic missions in the Mideast have also been bolstered. The French government said it planned to temporarily close its embassies and French schools in 20 Muslim countries this Friday to avert any injuries in the event of demonstrations after Muslim prayers.

Reuters quotes French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius who told France Info radio: “Is it relevant and intelligent in this environment to add fuel to the fire? The answer is no…I’m very worried… and when I saw this I immediately issued instructions for special security precautions to be taken in all the countries where it could be a problem.” FRANCE 24 reports:

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told FRANCE 24 on Tuesday that while he respects freedom of expression, he sees “no point in such a provocation.” Stressing that the French government would never encourage the cartoons’ publication, he called for “reason to prevail.” Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault issued a statement Tuesday saying: “In the current climate, the prime minister wishes to stress his disapproval of all excess and calls on everyone to behave responsibly.” […] Editor Charbonnier, originally a cartoonist who uses the name Charb, told French news channel iTele on Tuesday that the paper “does caricatures of everyone, and above all every week, but when we do it with the Prophet, it’s called provocation,” adding that if Charlie Hebdo stopped printing satirical work because of pressure or fear of offence, it would be reduced to selling 16 blank pages every week.
