Assault weapons rare here, but multivictim attacks add up
Chicago Tribune
The kind of violence that typically plagues Chicago does not handily fit the terms of the national debate on assault weapons and mass shootings.
Molly Kellar's insight:

A shooting in Chicago at Corell Square Park caused a bunch of comotion. 13 people were wounded in all and surprisingly no one died. The scene around the  basketball court was covered with 7.62x39 shell casings, the gun man had an AK-47 assault rifle on him.  Police said this could be a something that could become a national tragedy. There have been many shootings and violent acts presented in this area before but it has started to all add up and people don't understand it.

Fatal shootings a year apart may be connected - Winnipeg ... | Terrorism | Scoop.it
Sources tell 680 CJOB that homicide victim Justin Latinecz was with Jeffrey Lau when he was shot and killed at the Salisbury House on Pembina Highway and Stafford Street almost exactly one year ago.
Molly Kellar's insight:

Justin Latinecz was 22 when he was killed and a 27-year-old man was injured in a shooting in a residential area on Essex Avenue near St. Mary’s Road at about 4 in the morning on Sunday, police said.  Latinecz was with a man shot and killed at the Salisbury House at Pembina Highway and Stafford Street almost exactly one year ago. Jeffrey Lau was shot inside the restaurant on Sept. 27, 2012. Police didn't arrest anyone until February. The shooting was related to drug trade in the area. The police said they don't have much information. I think the police in the area should really focus on this and try to figure what is really going on and how the shootings are related.

Two deadly shootings within 24 hours in Springfield
WWLP 22News
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Two deadly shootings within 24 hours time and within several blocks of each other in Springfield.
Molly Kellar's insight:

In Springfield, Massachusettes there were two deadly shootings in a 24 hour period. On September 21, the first one occured at 2 o'clock in the morning. Both a woman and a man were shot in the back, the man ended up living but the woman was put in critical condition and eventually died. The second shooting occured at 9:30 Saturday night just outside the La Favorita mini mart on the corner of Walnut and King street. The man who was shot had apparently just celebrated his 29th birthday. Friends and family members complained that there we many shootings in the area and nothing was being done about it. They say that the people that are killing others don't understand that whoever the target is has a family and people that love them and getting away with it should not be right.

It's ridiculous that no one is doing anything about it. The cops need to get way more involved with this case. If this were there family they would definitely be doing everything possible to solve all this.
Jordan Meyer's comment, October 4, 2013 12:09 AM
The police need to be more aware of whats going on in the community. If multiple shootings are happening in a days time period that is really bad. It really doesn't put a good name for the city and state either.

I think the police should take over this problem too meany people are being hurt or killed by shoot outs like this.

4 hurt in 3 shootings across Indianapolis
Indianapolis Star
The first shooting occurred near East 31st Street and Forest Manor Avenue on the Eastside and left a man shot in the chest. His condition was not available Wednesday night.
Molly Kellar's insight:

In Indianapolis yesterday, there were three shootings where 4 people were injured. Each shooting was spread out in a way that the cops could obviously not catch them. I think after the first or second shooting the cops should've either seen a pattern of the shootings or atleast tried to get in the way before another one happened. Throughout the whole time, no one was hurt so it all turned out okay in the end.

Two shot and killed in separate Newark shootings overnight
The Star-Ledger - NJ.com
NEWARK — Two people were killed in two separate shootings overnight, authorities said.
Molly Kellar's insight:

In Newark last night there were two people shot and killed. It was a seperate shooting but investigators of the scene wonder if they were related in any way. People surrounding the area didn't realize what was going on until they saw police cars and ambulences's. The first shooting was shot and killed on the 500-block of South 18th Street and the second shooting was a few hours later near the intersection of Renner and Peshine avenues in Newark's South Ward. I think in places like this, security of the community should be a lot stronger because things like this will happen.

The security should really tighten up. Ecspecially now that the government is on shutdown terrorists or even just people are going to be more rowdy in the way they go about themselves possible because they are upset.

Smoke rises from the Westgate shopping centre after explosions at the mall in Nairobi September 23, 2013.
Molly Kellar's insight:

In Nairobi, Kenya there was a mass shooting that ended up killing atleast five people and wounding over two hundred. India is worried about the security of malls and any other large public space because of the terrorism that has happened there before in 2008 when Islamic Militants stretigically planned to hit Mumbai, an area with low security. The Indian government is so worried that something just like it could happen again any time so they decided to change all of the security arrangements. They plan to make security of the malls a lot safer for the people that visit.

I think that the mall just needs a whole new security system to make it work for the people and themselves. Also so this will come to a stop
Aletta Verhey's comment, October 2, 2013 12:57 PM
That's crazy and sad! Lots of cruel minds. I agree with Delaney that the mall needs a better security system, because it obviously isn't good enough.
Alexandria Goodyk's comment, October 3, 2013 10:20 AM
I think it's a great idea for them to have a better security system because the one they have right now isn't working. It's good that they are jumping the gun on this and making everyone feel more safe.
