Groups ask Carter County committee for increases in new budget

Groups ask Carter County committee for increases in new budget | Tennessee Libraries | Scoop.it

"Another agency seeking more funds was the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library. Library director Melodi Goff asked for an increase from the current annual donation from $31,587.50 to $70,000. That represented an increase of $38,412.50.

Goff said part of the funding request was similar to an earlier 911 request of $24,228. That was to make sure of a county commitment to maintenance of effort. She said that commitment was not met in 2004, when the County Commission voted on an across-the-board cut in the support of all outside agencies. She said the funding should at least be restored to pre-2004 levels to satisfy the state librarian."
