Tennessee Department of State: Tennessee State Library and Archives

Tennessee Department of State: Tennessee State Library and Archives | Tennessee Libraries | Scoop.it

"Nashville area library managers, staff and supporters: join us for this free, half-day OCLC Members’ Event on Thursday 5 April, at the Tennessee State Library’s Auditorium: Libraries and Information Consumers at Webscale: The Future is Now!

Join us for this 3-hour interactive workshop to examine the impact of the Web on our rapidly changing information landscape. In this quick-fire session we’ll share highlights from OCLC’s research (including Libraries at Webscale and Perceptions of Libraries) on today’s increasingly empowered information consumer, and we’ll present ideas from technology and business thought leaders. We’ll explore our own experiences and interpretations of OCLC’s data and compare notes about what this means for library technology, services, and outreach in Tennessee. Together we’ll consider: what’s tomorrow’s information consumer thinking about, today? How do library users interact when information lives at Webscale, served up by the “Gang of Four” (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon)? How do libraries take their rightful place at Webscale? How can libraries pursue meaningful innovation?

Date: Thursday, 5 April 2012

Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 noon

Location: Auditorium, Tennessee State Library and Archives, 403 7th Ave. North, Nashville, TN 37243

Cost: FREE to attend but space is limited – be sure to RSVP!

Directions and parking: http://tn.gov/tsla/VisitorsGuide.htm

Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

RSVP (required): Please RSVP and direct questions to Daphne Kouretas, OCLC Member Services Consultant at daphne_kouretas@oclc.org"
