"Siegel High recently presented its Star Reader Awards to the three students who have checked out and read the most school library books during an academic year. This year’s first place winner was Tara Knox who read a total of 68 books. Second place went to Daniel Miller who read 64 books, and third place was Gage Simmons who read 41 books. The ruthless finances of running the city are such that without an increase, Metro would be $50 million in the hole, and have to cut 150-200 police positions, about that many teaching positions, close the branch libraries and more to continue meeting its obligations."

"On May 10th from 4-6pm, the library will be celebrating two great milestones. The first milestone is the 20th Anniversary of the Elma Ross Public Library building. It is hard to believe that we have been in this building at this location for 20 years, all thanks to Mr.& Mrs. Dick Ross. The second milestone is the 100th Anniversary of Library Service here in Haywood County. Haywood County, a recipient of a library grant from Andrew Carnegie, opened the Carnegie Library in Brownsville, TN in 1912."
