Library raffle

The Friends of the M.R. Davis Public Library in Southaven are having a Jan. 13 raffle for four tickets to a Mississippi RiverKings hockey game and an autographed hockey stick. Entries are $2 and are available at the branch located at 8554 Northwest Drive. Call (662) 342-0102.

 

Alcohol recovery

The Olive Branch Trusted Servants group meets at the B.J. Chain Library in Olive Branch. AA meets Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday at 7:30. Al-Anon meets Monday at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Call (901) 283-7673 or (901) 605-5021.

 

Keep HL Beautiful

The Keep Horn Lake Beautiful committee meets the first Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the M.R. Dye Public Library, 2885 Goodman Road. This is an organization of volunteers whose mission is to educate and engage citizens to improve their community environment through litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling and beautification projects. Library story times

The B.J. Chain Public Library, 6619 Miss. 305 N. in Olive Branch, will be conducting the following story times: Book Worms (ages 3-5) Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.; Babygarten (infants-36 months) Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.; After-school story time (K-3) Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.; Wiggle Worms (ages 2 and 3) Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday morning story time (all ages) at 10:30. No registration is required. Call (662) 895-5900.

 

Oil Painting Classes

The B.J. Chain Public Library, 6619 Miss. 305 in Olive Branch, is offering free oil painting classes for adults every Wednesday morning from 9:30-11:30. Beginners and advanced students welcome. No registration needed. Call Kathy at (662) 838-7155.

 

Support groups

The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meets every fourth Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the M.R. Davis Public Library, 8554 Northwest Drive in Southaven. Speakers, discussions, games and refreshments are some of the activities for both patients and families. Call (901) 359-0758.

The All About Adoption Support Group meets the second Monday of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the M.R. Dye Public Library in Horn Lake, 2885 Goodman Road. Call (901) 833-8935.

 

Walls Anime Club

The Walls Anime Club meets at the Walls Public Library, 7181 Delta Bluff Parkway, the third Saturday of the month. The youth group meets at 11:30 a.m.; the adults meet at 2 p.m. For details, call (662) 781-3664.

 

Knitting Guild

The Memphis Knitting Guild meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Poplar-White Station Library, 5094 Poplar Avenue. The non-profit organization promotes knitting in the Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi area. Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are invited to attend.  Healing Hearts

The Healing Hearts suicide grief support group, a peer-led group offering support for adults grieving a suicide death, meets 6:30-8 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the M.R. Davis Public Library, 8554 Northwest Drive in Southaven. Call (901) 870-2234 or e-mail SurvivorsinMS@yahoo.com.
