Quick Key Mobile: grade multiple choice quizzes with your phone

Quick Key Mobile: grade multiple choice quizzes with your phone | TELT | Scoop.it
For the last 18+ months my former colleague Mike Morrell has raved about Quick Key. Quick Key is an app that turns your iPhone into a bubble sheet scanner. This morning I learned from Mike that Quick Key is now available as an Android app too.
Shona Whyte's insight:

I'm developing a new interest in mobile apps for new project iTILT 2.  Some of my teachers have iPads for their classes, so looking into what's good for language teaching there.

jillyfrees's curator insight, August 12, 2013 3:09 AM

Ooh - this looks really handy. The trick is to cherry pick the right one for the right teaching moment! I've clipped it to Evernote and will try to remember to pick one out each time I'm looking for a quick activity in class or to add to the class blog as a student-directed review activity.

Blubbr - Make Youtube Quizzes

Blubbr - Make Youtube Quizzes | TELT | Scoop.it

David Deubelbeiss of English Central and EFL Classroom 2.0 recommends this quiz maker, saying it has the "most potential of any Youtube quiz maker. It has an attractive interface, is well laid out and designed and the library is very accessible.  One downside - it doesn't allow you to edit the quiz after you've produced it (usually the case with just launched sites).  I'm sure they'll work things out"

Via David Deubelbeiss
Shona Whyte's insight:

Many of my undergraduate EFL students are big fans of English Central, so there is certainly an interest in video-based quizzes as an entertaining form of self-study.

Grammar Gamble - online quizzes

Grammar Gamble - online quizzes | TELT | Scoop.it

Discrete multiple choice questions on sentence-level grammar: choose the correct version of one sentence, or identify grammatical features, then decide how much you're willing to bet.

The set I tested was probably suitable for lower-intermediate/intermediate learners.  Feedback is immediate, after each answer, but shows the correct answer without an explicit right or wrong evaluation. (You need to check your total score for this information.)

Via Ana Cristina Pratas, Shona Whyte
Shona Whyte's insight:

Decontextualised explicit grammar practice, but may have its place in your teaching and be more fun than usual.

Obviously very decontextualised explicit grammar practice, which may have its place in your learning programme and may be more fun than usual.

QUIZSLIDES: Online Quizzes Created With Powerpoint. « DE Tools of the Trade

QUIZSLIDES: Online Quizzes Created With Powerpoint. « DE Tools of the Trade | TELT | Scoop.it

John Goldsmith says:

"QUIZSLIDES allows users to publish quizzes and exams online. Notice I said “publish”. The actual quiz is created with Powerpoint. The user creates a series of slides containing a question and 4 possible answers, lettered for “A” to “D”. Because it’s Powerpoint, users can include pictures, graphics, charts, maps or any other graphic images (not sure about sound files or video).

When completed, the slides are uploaded to the QUIZSLIDES web site and transformed into a quiz. Part of that process involves the user scrolling through each slide and identifying the correct answer to each question.

When completed, QUIZSLIDES generates a self marking quiz plus a web link/embed code so the quiz can be linked/embedded in a web page. As an example, I created a simple quiz involving the flags of European countries. It took more time to find the flag images then it did to create the quiz, the app is that easy to use."
