PRESS RELEASE – "JESSIE’S SONG by NIGEL GRAHAM" – March 6, 2012
Last year there was a new song for missing human trafficking victim, Jessica (Jessie) Edith Louise Foster, called "Jessie Foster Song – a Victim of Human Trafficking from Canada", written and composed by Nigel Graham, and sung by BellaRose on the 1st video, then sung by Nigel Graham on the 2nd release of the song, which is now available for download.

Since the 1st video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbT2K6q0caI was uploaded, there have already been over 800 YouTube views, and many others on other networking sites. The 2nd version of the song is on this video found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhWbTutSPDc.

The song was first sent to Jessie's mom Glendene Grant on March 20th, 2011, just 9 days before the 5 year mark of Jessie Foster’s disappearance. Jessie went missing from North Las Vegas, NV USA on March 29th, 2006 and the song was released on March 29th, 2011.

When you listen to the song, you will hear lyrics that talk about how she is thought about every day and night and missed very much, and about how hard it is to live with her missing. But it also talks about staying strong, memories, waiting to hear from Jessie and getting justice for her. The song is very touching and has such a beautiful melody, you soon find yourself singing along. The song has been used in several awareness videos for Jessie.

Composer Nigel Graham is from the town of Washington, in the City of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England and is 42 years old. Nigel writes and records his own music and has done a song for several missing children – Madeleine McCann, Lindsay Baum, Ben Needham and also for Jessie. Nigel can be contacted at ngraham24@yahoo.com.

On January 23, 2012, Nigel was the guest of Jessie's mom Glendene Grant on her BlogTalkRadio show to raise awareness about human trafficking and missing & exploited people – available here to listen in archives: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/jessie-foster-sex-human-trafficking-awareness/2012/02/28/2012-01-24--glendene-grant-show-11-with-guest-nigel-graham.

Jessie's mother and her three sisters have said that this song is beautiful and the video is sure to touch the hearts of those who watch it.

The track is available to download for only 99¢ on iTunes at http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/jessie-foster-song-victim/id500878736 and Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Jessie-Foster-Victim-Trafficking-Canada/dp/B0076UZOV2/ref=sr_1_5?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1331064536&sr=1-5.

We hope that the JESSIE SONG will be seen and heard all over the world, and through that raise more awareness about Jessie's disappearance and human trafficking around the world. Jessie's mom believes with all her heart that her daughter is still alive and that she desperately needs to be found and brought home.

Jessie will be 28 years old on May 27th, 2012.

'War on Terror is War on Liberty' - Nigel Farage launches e-petition

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/30569 | http://twitter.com/#!/Nigel_Farage
• UKIP Leader Nigel Farage launches an e-petition during the UKIP 2012 Spring Conference - 3 March 2012

The e-petition demands that David Cameron debates the US-UK extradition treaty with President Obama, with a view to amending it; this in the light of the recent extradition of British citizen Christopher Tappin (See below)

SIGN the PETITION:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/30569

From Ukip.org:

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage, the long term friend and supporter of Kent businessman Christopher Tappin, has set up a petition for opponents of his extradition to sign.

Mr Tappin, who fought extradition to the USA for two years, is currently awaiting the response to his bail application after Home Secretary Theresa May failed to stop his deportation to Texas.

If he is denied bail he faces the prospect of waiting for years in a violent American prison and being forced into a plea bargain. If he waits for a trial and is found guilty he risks spending the rest of his days in an American prison.

Mr Farage said: "The shipping transaction to Iran, which was undertaken on behalf of a US government front company, made Mr. Tappin $500 - a normal shipping fee. It is impossible for me to believe that a wealthy man, on the verge of retirement, would have risked everything for such a paltry sum. I have always known him to be a man of the highest integrity.

"No British court has ever been allowed to examine the evidence against Mr Tappin and I believe this Treaty, signed in the wake of the September 11 attacks, needs to be amended and the British government needs to stand up for its own people.

"Mr Cameron is going to visit President Obama on March 13 and I think that is an idea time to talk about this case and the Treaty as a whole and for the Prime Minister to make clear that he will uphold is election promise of undoing the bias."

Imogen Thomas, former Miss Wales and television presenter, is supporting the petition and has encouraged fans on Twitter to sign it.

Urge Syria’s First Lady to use her influence for women’s rights!

Please Take Action & Share Widely ;

Amnesty International
07 March 2012

Since March 2011, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government has overseen a brutal crackdown on dissent that has left more than 6,000 people dead, including more than 200 women and girls. Thousands have been arrested, with many held incommunicado for long periods at unknown locations where torture and other ill-treatment are reported to be rife. Amnesty International believes these violations amount to crimes against humanity.

Some women human rights defenders – who have been at the forefront of the peaceful calls for reform – have been forced into hiding, and some have even fled the country.

The Syrian First Lady, Asma al-Assad has repeatedly and publicly portrayed herself as a self-proclaimed champion of women’s and children’s rights; however, in recent months she has done very little to speak out against the brutalities committed by the Syrian government forces. On the contrary, she has even appeared publicly in support of her husband.

It is time to remind Asma al-Assad that human rights are universal and urge her to use her influence for Syrian women human rights defenders who work to protect the future for all Syrians.

Take action now!

Please note that your First Name and Country will be shared with Asma al-Assad, but not your surname or email address. Please consider this information before taking action ;

#UN #Ahmed_Shaheed #Report Released on #Human_Rights Situation in #Iran | WELCOME TO MY WORLD OF MANY CAUSES | Scoop.it
Human Chain Project

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran has released his new report in time for the 19th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In a 36-page report, Ahmad Shaheed claims to have “catalogued allegations that produce a striking pattern of violations of fundamental human rights.”

In a departure from his earlier report, Shaheed makes several recommendations to the Islamic Republic government and specifically calls for “the immediate release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience and [calls] upon the government to protect the space for public criticism or advocacy.”

The report also urges the authorities to investigate allegations regarding the violation of due process as well as reports of torture and death in detention centres.

The report lists “excessive solitary confinement, electric shock, severe beatings, threats of rape, and threats to detain and/or harm friends, associates, and family members” as instances of torture cited by several witnesses that contacted the special rapporteur. The report indicates some witnesses have said they were coerced into making recordings of false confessions.

Shaheed writes that interviewed several NGOs, Iranians living outside Iran and diplomats.

He indicates that the Mothers of Laleh Park have written to him in order to initiate an investigation into the deaths of their children during the post-election events of 2009.

Saheed calls on Islamic Republic authorities to review their laws regarding political parties, NGOs, the family and security in order to ascertain compatibility with international standards.

Iranian authorities have refused to cooperate with Shaheed, and his request to travel to Iran to corroborate his report was turned down.

Several Islamic Republic figures condemned Shaheed’s earlier report, which also listed accounts of widespread human rights violations in Iran. They accused Shaheed of relying on one-sided data.

Human Rights Council
Nineteenth session
Agenda item 4
Human rights situations that require the Council’s attention

Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation
of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran

Summary
The present report,
the first to be submitted to the Human Rights Council, is
submitted pursuant to Council resolution 16/9 and covers the human rights developments
since the commencement of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on 1 August 2011.
The
Special Rapporteur e presented his first interim report to the General Assembly (A/66/374) in October 2011.

The present report outlines the Special Rapporteur‟s proposed methodology and
highlights the recent trends in the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

While listing some of the most recent human rights concerns,
the Special Rapporteur focuses on some of the cases that emerged during post-election unrest in 2009.
Although
the report does not cover all the violations of human rights in the country, it provides a picture
of the prevailing situation in that regard. It is envisaged that a number of important
issues not covered in the present report will be addressed in the Special Rapporteur‟s future
