OS X Mavericks, the Mac operating system Apple offered Tuesday as a free upgrade, could end up on more than 90% of Macs, according to statistics from Web analytics firm Net Applications.

Ninety-three percent of Macs run one of the last three releases of Mac OS, which means that these computers run an OS that is at most 3-4 years old.  How many WIndows Machines are running a 12 year old operating system (XP)?

Apple might have thought it was doing Mac users a favor with its free upgrade of iWork last week, but Microsoft instead has been the recipient of the gift.

I'm not happy to hear they have dumbed down iWork.  The web version OK; but not the application.  They should have taken a hint from Microsoft.  Enterprise and education want the applications full featured on their computers and light weight on the web.  Microsoft just gave away the desktop apps for free for Office 365 education users.
