Refractive Distance: Lock-Ons by TEJN

Refractive Distance: Lock-Ons by TEJN | TEJN | Scoop.it

Not only the position, but also the scale and the color of these impelling acting presences escalate the dramaturgical effect, revealing and combating the contradictions that characterize contemporary lifestyles and our cankerous system of values. What is considered ‘waste’, both in terms of material as well as practice, and why?...

...For Fill in the blanks TEJN has created a whole new body of work showcasing his newly adopted abstract aesthetics. Combining the figurative with the abstract he has set out on yet another challenging journey within his own artistic universe. Balancing the two contrasting expressions up against each other within his recognizable style of modelling. Remember the 17th of December | Magasinrepo | TEJN | Scoop.it

Galore kæmper for kunsten - Booomerang

Galore kæmper for kunsten - Booomerang | TEJN | Scoop.it

Harder Better Faster Stronger!”

Domenica in strada: TEJN | Italia

Domenica in strada: TEJN | Italia | TEJN | Scoop.it

Buona domenica!

TEJN: street art en trois dimensions

TEJN: street art en trois dimensions | TEJN | Scoop.it

TEJN | Blank Fobi

TEJN | Blank Fobi | TEJN | Scoop.it

Finding Peace with Sculpting Street Artist TEJN - Brooklyn Street Art

Finding Peace with Sculpting Street Artist TEJN - Brooklyn Street Art | TEJN | Scoop.it

...Tejn just released a fresh batch of lock on sculptures. Made from salvaged iron found in the streets, welded into sculptures, and returned as art chained to public railings. The three pieces I have spotted so far, all speak of peace, and they seem almost tailored for the locations. Like the gun in the meat grinder, attached to a pole by the troubled People’s Park.”“The attention to detail is extraordinary. Look at the tiny hands on the man carefully winding up the peace sign! I find it impossible to pass a Tejn, and not feel instantly better.

Disse gade-skulpturer hedder Lock On´s.

Raw iron works compellingly well for Danish artist TEJN. His sculptures are made from recycled iron, which he roughly welds together creating objects within a figurative sphere. The sculptures appear powerful and unpolished. To the trained eye TEJNs work may refer to the grand Danish sculptor Robert Jacobsen, who was celebrated for working with raw iron in the ‘50s and ‘60s. TEJN wants to bring the iron media to a new and contemporary stage of artwork.

TEJN finds metal scrap for his sculptures and uses some of it in its original form. The rest is created into figurative objects that express a narrative deadopen for interpretation.

“When making my sculptures I try to see people as they are, and not only the trained version of how they want to be,” says TEJN in connection to explaining his drive for the figurative.

The underlying honest self that comes forward when people lose their facades inspires the artist. He appreciates how the loss of self-control develops a new transparent world, which he builds into his works.

A selection of some of the best Street Art Berlin has to offer. You can click on the artist’s name for more great work.

Danish Street Artist TEJN creates sculptures from salvaged Iron found on the streets.  A number of pieces from his ‘Locked On’ project have popped up around Berlin including this huge character, which seems to me like it may be a Norse god, a larger version of a previous sculpture on Kastanianallee.
